Practice reminder #120of365 Want to feel great? Stop trying to feel better. Comfort and fulfillment are not the same thing. It is quite possible to feel comfortable doing things that are not connected to our most valued goals, commitments, and relationships. Everyday we engage pleasant and meaningless behavior to avoid boredom, restlessness, sadness, frustration, fear, stress, and anxiety. Entire multi-billion dollar entertainment industries count on our habit of escape from normal human emotions. Fulfillment comes from putting attention and energy into meaningful pursuits. It is completely understandable to want to feel comfortable – to want to feel better. However, the mindless pursuit of pleasure and comfort can easily get in the way of our practice of fulfillment. Sometimes doing the stuff that really matters is uncomfortable or unpleasant. Sometimes it is boring or tiring. AND, there is a satisfaction and confidence that comes from doing the next right thing even when you don’t feel like it. This is the foundation of a fulfilling life. www.tinyurl.com/goodlifepractice www.appliedattention.com #mindfulness #selflove#strength #compassion#gratitude #confidence#kindness #courage #love#wyflion https://www.instagram.com/p/BvrtMbWnj0v/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=totqd4kictsz
