About creating the 13′’ project
When I first saw some works of abstract photographers on my classes in photography school I knew I like it. I thought about my own idea for about a week, when I got that one. I counted how many seconds it takes to ride throught the bridge, but just when it's water down there (it's Martwa Wisła, Siennicki Brigde). I started to do pictures when I was going to work in early morning, when I was getting back home late evening. Then winter came, so I was doing them also when I was going to school for classes and every other opportunity. I made a lot of them. Sometimes I carried my equipment to do just that one photo. Sometimes I did none, just because the tram was so crowded or battery was 'dead' and I didn't have the spare one. I learned to choose the darkest place in the tram (or bus), the site of doing the photo and I had noticed how dirty the windows are. (Mayby there will be the series about that, who knows.) I started to have a sense how the serie would look like, I saw the line (pictures from 3 to 7) that could connect pieces and I started putting pictures into cathegories like 'horizontal' or 'loopy'. After I stopped doing pictures (it wasn't dark enough in some time in March), the serie started to clarify. I made the trial print, I was planning an order. Some pictures have been choosen to be one of 13, others had to be ejected just because the colors wasn't right in print. Then I gave them to real print. And that's it. It's my first serious serie, it is my portfolio, my 'manifesto' so to say. And I really hope you like it. Thank you.
