I rewatched episode 1 of Wonder Egg Priority because like, yeah, I love this show a whole ton already and wanted to see it again, and I have a couple observations.
I love that pretty much the first element of Ai’s character we establish is that she seems to take respect for the dead very seriously, opening the series on burying a dead bug that she could have totally ignored and literally nobody would care. But she gotta give this lad a proper burial.
And then when we consider just how much she reels back when seeing this instance of bullying too, the show’s already made it clear to us just how much death affects Ai, even before they’ve told us anything to do with Koito.
I like this moment because her phone case looks like it has a squirrel with an absolute dumptruck ass on it.
I like this moment because Ai has cute shoes.
I like this moment because this is obviously foreshadowing, and really scary foreshadowing too. No reason whatsoever to introduce this rule unless it’s gonna come into effect, so by god am I worried for Ai.
I like this moment because Koito just be speakin the absolute truth
I like this moment because Ai says this in response to Koito asking why Ai doesn’t want to be friends, so it’s clear that the bullying Ai has been victim to has pushed her self esteem so low that she doesn’t feel worthy of happiness, and I’m looking forward to how they’re gonna turn that around and teach her she is worth happiness.
And I forgot to turn subs off oops but that white line looks like a heart rate monitor, albeit hand-drawn, so that’s weird and potentially symbolic, who knows.
I also spent about 3 hours theorising and chatting with people in the Discord server about a bunch of stuff I might talk about later, though for now I wanna grab a bite to eat.
