I supposed to say "sorry" to my boys that we used to have a better Bday party instead of ultah yg accidentally dibarengin. It should be on June 13th and August 5th, maka jadilah tgl 13 Agustus tsb. 😹🙇🏻♀🙇🏻♀ Yes, we had some cased, but still it was a miracle that Cimbuls birthday could be held successfully. 😌 Our big families gathered. We had a good cake, good dinner, good bubble drinks, so with the good chit chats, and warmth vibes. We did so grateful. 🙏🏻 Though it really wasn't a perfect party, sangat jauuuh dr kata 'mevvah' dan meriah, malahan serba dadakan dan 'yg penting ada, yg penting kumpul', but we did really enjoy and happy. Sampai2 Cimbuls nggak mau buyar. Kakak Ari asyik main bola sm kakak2 komplek dan ogah tidur, sedangkan si adek excited menggelandang uncles dan aunties buat dia nemenin main di luar. Masih pada on fire krn rumah rame orang. Finally, we're done at almost 11pm. 😅 Then, let we sent apologizes to all of families and fellas that couldn't be invited by the date, the place, and the very short occasion. 🙇🏻♀ Because it was Tuesday night--di mana kebanyakan orang sedang hectic--jamnya pun I knew it nanggung banget dg risiko selesai kemalaman. Ya karena memang kami (para panitia) sempat dan ada waktu action-nya pas itu doang. 😂 Big thanks and kisses and hugs for the team dan partners who very help us made it happened. Thankyou for everyone who came and joined our happiness. I wish we would always have some 'next time'. Next time, we wish we may have all of you with us. 🥰🥰🥰 #13082019 #ariatabirthday #ariisturning3 #ataisturning1 #cimbulsbirthday #belatedbirthday #birthdaycake #latepost https://www.instagram.com/p/B2ZNmSlAOx2/?igshid=1kbhfsnpczl40
The first time I travelled somewhere alone where I didn’t know anyone was Copenhagen, summer of 2018. I remember not knowing what to do, and because just two weeks earlier my colleagues and I went to Helsinki and took the free walking tour, I decided to take the free walking tour.
I met T during that first free walking tour, and we ended up hanging out for two of the four days I was there for. So I guess, technically, I wasn’t alone.
Traveling solo was a topic that came up recently; a woman I was sitting next to on the bus from Zagreb to Pula asked me.
“I like traveling alone,” I told her. “I like waking up when I want to and getting to places when I feel like.”
I enjoyed Zagreb quite a bit. The Museum of Broken Relationships was definitely the highlight for me. But I also enjoyed walking around the city, sitting in parks, and I fell in love with the apartment I rented. It felt like home, and in some ways, made me want to change my own apartment to be more like it.
“What I don’t like about traveling solo,” I said to the woman on the bus, “is eating alone.”
I don’t mind going to restaurants alone. I do it all the time in KL. But it feels just a tad bit lonelier when I’m in a new city trying new food and have no one to share it with. You order the grilled chicken and I’ll order the fish. Regardless of the outcome of the meal, it’s an experience I’m sharing with another person (or persons). Cue that Cicero quote about friendship doubling joy and dividing grief.
At the end of the day, a shared experience is almost always a better experience. Because even if the food turns out horrendous, you can always bring it up later -- after an appropriate amount of time has passed, like -- Remember when we had that crap food in Pula?
And then you can laugh about it together. Or cry. Or get mad all over again. Doesn’t really matter what, because you’d be doing it together.
