Just finished watching #137Shots on @netflix make sure y’all check this out. #PoliceReform is a must! Let’s start with some ideas, shall we? 1. Police officers should not have the power of the 5th amendment. If you commit a crime or are on trial for that crime as an officer, you should have to testify and risk perjury. 2. Police involved shootings of unarmed citizens should be prosecuted by the department of justice. Not the District Attorney or any other office that works with the police force on a daily basis. 3. Military to Police pipeline needs to have required psychological evaluations yearly. . It ended with no accountability for police officers "willfull" violations of police policy and protocol. It ended with 10 day suspensions for those in charge. Brelo got a slap on the wrist. We can not continue to reward these people when they don't deliver Justice. Judges hold more power then prosecutors and they are just as accountable as those that are involved. John P O'Donnell has attempted to run for an Ohio Supereme Court seat for the past two election cycles, we can not let this happen. In Regards to “137 Shots”

Most of y’all know I am usually backing police in these kinds of cases. In the Robinson case, the Brown case, and the Meyers case I was (and am) a staunch supporter of what the police did. However in regards to the actions of police in the shooting of a couple in Cleveland a few years back I cannot condone or back them. In this case (from what I can gather) the police involved were acting beyond their authority and in a way that was unlawful and immoral. 

I say this because the entire barrage of fire from the officers (about one magazine from each) was due to a supposed single shot from when the couple first ran from police that turned out to be the car backfiring. The Washington post uploaded the official graphic of the events showing what was where and when and its very damning if accurate. 

From what I can see the police were justified in the initial opening of fire due to the fact the suspects seem to be attempting to run over an officer and the response was justified in that case. That being said, the subsequent shots from almost all the officers? Absolutely not, including Mr. Brelo’s shots. The car was stopped and they had no evidence or significant sign that they were being shot at. In my view as someone who is incredibly supportive of police and has been in nearly all these high publicity cases; this was a massive clusterfuck.

That being said I have two caveats to add. One; there is no evidence this was racially motivated. The suspects put countless lives in danger in their running from police and seem to have attempted to run over an officer. This is what caused the mass reaction, not all the cops thinking “Ooh boy, I’m gonna kill a darkie today”. Second, I unfortunately have to agree with the verdict in the case of Mr. Breelo due to him being only one of many and you can’t pin all of it on him. It was a weak case for an individual and it played out as such.

I love police, I have friends and family in Law Enforcement, I plan to work in Law Enforcement after I graduate. That being said, in this case these officers fucked up hard and must be punished for it. Justice demands it.

Justice is not about public opinion or what “the community” wants. Justice is and always should be about truth and fact. Anything else is mob rule and not only worthless but abhorrent.
