ill start with bebe first!
i also wanna clarify… the first post i ever made with bebe, i mentioned she was 18. initially, i created her character separate from an actual total drama season and she was just a random oc from a made up cast of mine. however, now headcanon her as having been in the actual 2023 season, she is 17!
sorry about the previous mistake in my initial post!
bebe, competing in total drama island 2023, was constantly focused on the kitchen. she’d always try to sneak into the kitchen in the mess hall, only to find chef there who’d try and kick her out. eventually, he got tired and warmed up to her, both of them having a father and daughter relationship.
she doesn’t think much of chef’s cooking, since it’s canonically gross, but she doesn’t wanna tell him that 😭 when they’re not doing challenges, with whatever ingredients are around, she loves to bake snacks for the contestants!
haven’t mentioned it yet but i ship bebe with emma c: as we know, in season 1 of the reboot, she’s going back and forth with chase but this would be an AU! basically, the season would start like normal with emma being mad at chase but once she meets bebe, they form a close friendship and eventually become girlfriends c: i know i know, that means a lot of emma’s plot wouldn’t happen butttt in the end, it means it’d lead to bowie and emma still being friends so im happy with that c:
bebe is pretty liked by most of the contestants but not at first! but she often tries to appease emma, always asking her what her favourite sweets are and once she knows, she bakes specifically her favourites 🥰 (emma loves strawberry flavoured anything, but her favs are strawberry cheesecake and pavlova)
bebe is very easily distracted and naive. when she first arrived, ripper tried to make fun of her but bebe didn’t really get it leaving ripper confused himself 😭 then, they kinda ended up becoming friends and having a bit of an odd friendship!
she is Papua New Guinean (inspired by my boyfriend, who also came up with her name! tysm babe 🥰) but has been living in canada, her parents moving there before she was born.
she often arrives late to challenges, accidentally, which annoys chris to no ends, because she gets distracted by her baking and never notices the time. at first, it made her teammates annoyed (like MK, julia, bowie) but they all eventually warmed up to her. emma was always quick to her defense 🥰
i have more butttt im rambling on now 😅 time to talk about jabari!
when jabari first arrived on the island, it was love at first sight; as soon as he saw zee, he couldn’t stop thinking about them. zee was constantly on jabari’s mind.
jabari would bring along his cutesy teen romance novels and in his spare time, would read and imagine it was him and zee in the characters place.
not trying to be insensitive but chase once asked about jabari’s binder and he was too shy and nervous to say anything. zee cut in, distracting chase and leading to another conversation. later that day, zee and jabari were chilling and he thanked zee for changing the conversation.
jabari is openly transgender but on the island, since they were all new people, he wasn’t comfortable talking about it yet. he told zee he was a trans man and zee was so chill about it, straight up telling him ‘that’s cool, im non binary' and since then, their bond got stronger.
jabari is weird, and i mean weird weird. he rarely ever takes off his skates and he’s a natural, even on rough terrain. yes, he competes in challenges with them on; he’s so used to it and prefers to wear them than normal shoes where he’s really clumsy.
he writes poetry in his spare time. throughout his stay on the island, he kept writing poems about zee. they didn’t directly say ‘zee’s’ name but similar to the episode ‘x-treme torture’, bowie found one of the pages and tried to find out who wrote it. bowie was able to easily identify that it was zee in the poem and approached zee, saying they had a secret admirer.
zee was flattered and so chill about the whole thing, saying it was ‘super cool’ bowie approached jabari, who immediately spilled the beans. while bowie was using certain things to his advantage in the competition, here he was just curious and wanted to know who else was crushing hard on each other this season (besides him and raj, as well as eventually bebe and emma).
jabari was relieved and this eventually led up to him wanting to confess to zee.
jabari was terrified of anything water related in the season and would often panic. zee noticed this and was like ‘don’t worry, dude, i’ll protect you haha,’ and carried him on his back. each time this happened, jabari would instantly have hearts in his eyes and would think to himself ‘oh, my hero!’

i know a lot of these probably doesn’t make sense, story wise with total drama 2023. again, this is a super different AU. like, yeah, emma and chase storyline doesn’t rly happen (except for chase constantly bugging emma and her getting mad over what he did to her before the competition).

i'm a big believer that wayne and raj were born in the exact same hospital near the exact same time. their last names are close to each other and everything, so they were right next to each other, like, all the time. best friends since birth quite literally. their cries were in sync. raj born at 11:59 pm on december 31st, wayne born at 12:00 am on january 1st... there's depth here based on their birth dates/times alone, i swear- but also they always just celebrate their birthdays together because why celebrate ONE snow owl when you can celebrate TWO of them? that's double the snow owl party!!! everyone is invited!!! GO SNOW OWLS!!!! :D
i WAS going to put scary girl born on the 13th of any month. because she'd love having a friday the 13th birthday. and it'd be so fitting. butttt then i thought it'd be more funny if she was born on the lovey dovey day at 1:13 pm (13:13 military time). so close yet so far. it's almost like the date and time of her birth mocks her <3 the only form of birthday enjoyment she gets is scaring every couple she spots <3 don't say happy birthday to her or she WILL haunt you for the rest of your life <333
emma the pisces... first example of me going, "yeah sure let's go with that." i think out of everyone in this cast, emma has the most normal birthday parties, at least post s2. because she will either have a normal party or no party at all. pre-td + post s1 td emma was so used to getting pranked on her birthday by chase. having a regular party with no hidden camera or tricks or gimmicks is just... nice. preferred, even. she's probably not even going to want a hint of any electronic device at her party. too many haunting memories. just enjoy the day! have fun! vibe! don't prank her! pranks are banned!
my mom is very adamant that millie is an aries because i'm an aries and apparently i am very similar to millie. so i guess millie is an aries now. i cannot deny my mom's hcs for her fav reboot character. millie is practically my sister here. lol i think pre-td, millie wouldn't celebrate her birthday much, but post-td, she has a tiny lil party with some of her closest friends (team not julia, probably). i WOULD say she's the most normal partier, but i also think she'd have themes for her parties based off her fav book series. so. less normal due to the chance of absolute chaos, but fun nonetheless!
zee the taurus... second example of me going, "yeah sure let's go with that." he probably always tells silly lies about his birthdate for funsies. "yeah i was born april 20th," he says, knowing damn well he was born on like, idk, may 7th. "oh i lost my leg on my fifth birthday after tripping over the table holding my gifts and cake; had frosting in my hair for days," he says, knowing damn well he was born like that. the guy's only birthday wish is to have a lil laugh, truly. he's also very easy to surprise. you can buy gifts and party decor with his name on it right in front of him and he still won't catch on until the day of the party. so simple to please.
idk how to explain this that well. but nichelle and chase are two sides of the same gemini coin. they are hosting thee most self-centered birthday parties to ever exist. they're wearing accessories that say "it's my day everyday but today is ESPECIALLY my day because it's my BIRTHDAY" or something like that. they're making others wear their merch to their parties. their celebrations are super big, super loud, and super expensive. they are probably even born on the exact same day. just trust me here, they are practically twins but also not really-
party king bowie born at the start of the summer season. how fitting. i think the loveable party boy would have loveable parties on the beach or some nicely decorated banquet hall. it's invite only, obviously. the crowns are only for him, obviously. pre-td bowie is a stickler when it comes to his birthday. everything has to be perfectly on time, everybody has to be exactly where they're expected to be, etc. it's the only way he could fully enjoy his special day. but post-td bowie loosens up jusssst a bit. like. you can now wear jeans to his party BUT ONLY IF YOUR SHIRT IS DECENT... (everyone say thank you to raj's whimsy and ability to see the bright side of every situation ever; otherwise the rules would be much more strict).
the one (and only) thing i do agree with in regards to that td-made birthday chart is that priya is born in july. look at her. that is a july baby. and i always liked imagining priya and bowie sharing a sign, just in different months. hashtag final 2 things. pre-td priya spent her birthdays training like any normal day, but she got some yummy cake out of it so like. not the worst...? post-s1 priya has a bit of a hard time with her birthday cause like. she already won what she was born and raised to win. and now she just gets to have a party, with no strings attached at all...? it's so strange! post-s2 priya probably still struggles with her birthday, but not as much with her friends and boyfriend giving her gifts and taking her to places she'd never got to experience before outside of a training lens. (so... a lot of experiences to be had. (you'd think this would go normally, but this is priya, so be prepared for something wild to happen.))
ripper the leo... third example of me going, "yeah sure let's go with that." i think ripper is very loud. and would therefore like a loud birthday party. doesn't have to be fancy really; could be anywhere as long as he gets to belch as long and as loudly as he wants to. pre-td + post-s1, i imagine one of the main times he enjoys his birthday before his family has Some Form of an Argument would be when everyone is singing happy birthday, because it's the only time his family is on the same page. post-s2 ripper now has a girlfriend and friends who sing him happy birthday. even though they're all chaotic (more than himself sometimes), and even though they all suck at singing (don't let axel know he thinks this), he still prefers those celebrations over anything else.
caleb the virgo... fourth example of me going, "yeah sure let's go with that." kind of similar to priya, i imagine caleb didn't celebrate his birthday too heavily pre-td. maybe a nice cake made by his parents, but otherwise not that much. too busy trying to get into the best universities and whatnot. i don't think that'll change until post-s2 (because he. didn't have any chance to interact with anybody prior to s2-). he has rather small parties, probably the smallest of his cast outside of mk, but i imagine priya trying her best to throw thee best party for thee best boyfriend ever, so he's happy to go along with whatever.
axel the libra... fifth example of me going, "yeah sure let's go with that." i imagine she's not big into parties; she doesn't hate her birthday, per-say, just doesn't really care to be the center of attention for too long. pre-td axel is just fine hearing her brothers and dad shout happy birthday. post-td axel is just fine hearing her brothers, dad, boyfriend, and boyfriend's weird ass friends shout happy birthday. very simple. very chill. very axel. throw in some games where she can chuck darts at targets (moving or not) and she's satisfied.
damien is born on the scary day, let's all point and laugh at him. i hc that he remembers moments from his birth, the main one being that a doctor dressed as a clown delivered him. his phobias started when he was oh so young <3 he likes his parties fully safe and normal. he has not had a single birthday that is fully safe and normal. pre-td birthdays were filled with small, silly pranks from his friends that he gets over. post-td is a little worse only because he's a little famous and sometimes when you're a little famous, there's potential for More Danger. also that was supposed to be scary girl's birthday. he stole it from her. she is now haunting him for the rest of his birthdays. good luck to him.
julia the scorpio... surprisingly not the sixth example of me going, "yeah sure let's go with that," but only because every time i look at a scorpio symbol, i'm like, "yeah that's gotta be julia's sign." just. look at it! ♏️ <-THAT'S JULIA!!!! RIGHT THERE!!!! otherwise. julia is very much a birthday person. people giving her constant attention on this one day of the year? it's her everything. i wouldn't say pre-td julia ever had a bad birthday (because everything goes her way (she makes sure of that)), but somehow, post s2 julia finds herself enjoying her birthdays more. it's not even like much has changed. only difference is mk's there, who comes to visit and gift her something that has definitely been stolen and tease her for an entirety of five-eight hours... huh. very weird. must be a perk of having a best friend.
mk the sagittarius... the actual sixth example of me going, "yeah sure let's go with that." i do strongly believe she's a fall baby. probably gets sick either before or after her birthday, but never the day itself. not like she cares. mk is very much NOT a birthday person. people pretending to gaf about her and making her the center of attention on this one day of the year? it's her biggest annoyance. but somehow, post s2 mk finds herself enjoying her birthdays more. it's not even like much has changed. only difference is julia's there, who is very serious about birthday for some reason and makes her celebrate at all her favorite places, even though all of mk's favorite places are places julia detests... huh. very weird. must be a perk of having a best friend.

1- when it comes to writing mkulia in particular, i always have a song that starts as my "base," if that makes sense? like i don't take it word-for-word throughout; i just take bits and pieces to help me get into a Vibe and Write Things. tit for tat takes some inspiration from 'an ego thing' by lizzie mcalpine! specifically these two sections:

2- the only actual playlist i have of a td character is nichelle because. well. look at my icon. i'm the most normal nichelle fan ever who just so happens to normally study her character through songs and their potential connection to her, like, three base character traits in order to expand on why she is the way she is. and i do all of this in the most normal way possible. yeah. but otherwise no, no other character playlists lol; i just wing every characterization i do for others and hope for the best 😭
3- i actually cannot spill this one because it'll spoil Something that's plot relevant 🥀 but trust, the nickname eris will make much more sense in the next coming chapters!! just know that it is a very intentional and somewhat on-the-dot nickname. points to song lyrics above for reference that probably won't make sense until i update again pfft-
Since a big chunk of the reboot cast went in well aware of the stardom,, what sort of sponsors/commercials/collaborations would certain characters get? Stuff that's basically tied to them post (or pre) TD.
Like ,, could you imagine getting those super cinematic ads for a candy crush dupe or something and Nichelle appears, 'Pedro Pascal in that one merge mansion ad' style. What do you do then.
Who would you suddenly pull in a gacha game bc there was *apparently* a collaboration with TD going on?
Who'd get the clearly faked voiceovers on ads hoping to reel in new players from the contestants' statuses alone?

but omg. omgggg. i HAVE thought of this actually lol. i can't remember if the show ever touched on this concept, but in my brain, the td contract has some sections that include mandatory advertisements for the show. i'll ramble about some of the ideas rotating in my head currently:
sponsorships and collabs gotta be like 60% of julia's job already since she's an influencer. but i don't think she's prepared for the sheer ridiculousness that td brings. no she did not sign up for a collab with ripper to advertise this horrendous show while eating hot wings and balancing on a tightrope, but she's gonna have to do it anyway. next time read the fine print queen. at least she'll trend ig!
priya's ep runtime is so high, td interns are gonna be tasked to take chopped up voice clips and make sentences she has never said. her voice is THEE voice. used soooo much in commercial breaks advertising the show. and her voice is selling chris bobble heads too. somehow. is it legal? well. it's hidden in the td contract actually, so yes! (it's fiiiiiiine cause she gets a .000001% cut for every bobble head sold. isn't chris and co so nice? ^^)
reboot cast in a gacha game... ohhhh nobody ever tell chris about the gacha system or else he will make the most unluckiest event/game on the planet. ain't nobody pulling a bowie five star card except like one person 💔 i don't even think the contestants themselves could pull their own in-game material without spending a good amount of money, and nobody is doing that except maybe chase or nichelle if you gas them up enough. because you could gas them up enough if you try hard enough
i think wayne, raj, and zee are like the only people who would have genuine fun with all of this. they are bringing in big bucks just from their positive energy alone. at some point their popularity rises higher than it already is. they're collabing with someone like every damn week. zee gets to keep his soda sponsorship deals and wayne and raj get idk something with hockey pucks ig. who gaf. they're having fun and that's all that matters.
scary girl, however, makes td history as the first contestant ever to be "banned" from any advertisements and collaborations associated with the show. i say "banned" because the contract says otherwise, and according to chris, you really can't get out of that thing, even when chris himself wants you out of that thing. some say if you look close enough, you'll see a hint of scary girl in every single ad/sponsorship/collab a reboot character appears in... spooky........... :)

ooo now this is a fun and loaded question!! had to think extra hard about this one. hilariously enough though, i somewhat thought about this concept already and drew this way back when.
(i tend to connect madohomu with prillie, somewhat because i like tragic yuri and try to push it whenever i see the opportunity, but mostly because i do think prillie has the range to bring about the most heart-crushing plot to exist, and a setting like the one in pmmm is perfect for that. there's a reason i doodle prillie as madohomu and mizisua in my down time pfft-)
but yeah, your question!! gonna put my thoughts down below! veryyyy surface level here. just tapping into the main five in the holy quintet though cause if i did others i would have to Think More and i unfortunately do not have the range for that </3
priya -> madoka: i consider madoka to be thee quintessential protagonist, and i loveeee placing priya in protagonist roles when i think of these types of AUs (gotta be the total ep count, she's in like every single one of the reboot lol). but outside of that, i see so many of madoka's traits within priya: kind-hearted, a little naive at first, selfless sometimes. they're always ready to complete what they view as their duty (madoka protecting the world, priya winning td just as her parents raised her to), all to show that they can be capable of something. oh my tragic protagonists, i'll always love you
millie -> homura: do i think millie would go and make a wish to save the first friend she's ever had over and over? well yes! very much so! but more than that, they're very intelligent and they have "questionable" empathy/morality levels (i type "questionable" btw because some people do not get it but i do! i really do!!!). both millie and homura had low confidence in themselves and were generally lonely until they met priya/madoka. (and i also simply believe millie should be able to have a gun. so.)
emma -> sayaka: stares into the camera. ah yes, the two overhated characters that people refuse to extend empathy towards thanks to a boy that they really like and their very realistic stubbornness toward their situations. they can be so loving and sweet, but it's within such an unkind world. and then they get done so wrong by the narrative itself like it isn't even funny. do not fret... i will save these girls...... somehow.........
axel -> kyoka: i simply think there's more to them than what meets the eye. ofc we see more of that within kyoko since axel's characterization throughout td is (in my humble opinion) severelyyyyyy lacking, but my thought still stands. at first glance, i think most only view they as headstrong tomboys with fiery tongues and extreme strength. but deep down, they care for their teammates and have this softer side that only people closest to them can see.
nichelle -> mami: i swearrrrrr this is not just because their third eps are their downfalls lol. saving others, entertaining others—the people around them don't understand why they do those things in the (rather extreme) ways that they do. and even though they present themselves in a cocky, almost-effortless fashion, and as talented as they are in their respective fields, they're both so tragically alone that it makes you wonder if they wonder if anything they do is even worth it. (i also simply believe nichelle should be able to have a gun. so.)

i have wondered why damien's friends would sign him up for this show. so it's nice to see you tackle that topic, with nuance and everything!! it makes a lot of sense in vera's case— she's a friend who sees the best in damien and knows he'll do well, even in a show like td. but she was also just doing a silly prank, not knowing he'd actually be picked for the show. like i cannot imagine how she and curtis reacted seeing him on tv for the first time. did damien even get to tell his friends before being whisked away to the island or was he constrained by an nda, therefore making all of this a surprise-
but also i think my fav hc of yours has to do with vera's "go-getter" trait, where she feels she has to go and decide things because a lot of the people around her don't, for their own reasons. between the bakery, keeping up with friends, caring for her family, there is so much going on in this girl's life. i am looking at her through a magnifying glass. there must be almost nonstop traffic in that head of hers, all that stress baked into pine tarts. poor bub

ok so this is a really good question!! it's hard to gauge what nichelle really likes to be in or what she likes to watch because she is a Product of Hollywood and her personality is so hard to decipher because i fear she has never had the chance to have a sense of self outside of her identity as an actress... oh how i wish to tap into that brain of hers...
i do think she feels her best acting-wise when it's flashy and over-the-top, like what you see in action or thriller movies. in td, some of the movies that she brags about have these (randomly generated, yet) exciting names, like fight or flight attendant, or slug slayers 4. and when we see clips of her movies or hear about her experiences, it's always super extra. it's like it's her comfort zone of sorts.
this could tie into her being overjoyed after reading that "contract" in reboot's s2. starring in a potential superhero film? it'd be her time to really shine. it's everything her career has been praised for (at least, before the cancelling), and it's everything she wants to be. the girl spent months just to look flashy after being clowned on, like she loves acting in her craft the most when she is THEE star doing THEE biggest stunts.
(is this true only because she is a Product of Hollywood? well. 98% chance of that being yes tbh. but it's all she seems to know.)
as for her personal tastes on what she watches, i hc her as a movie buff of sorts. she'll watch just about any movie of any genre and talk about its nuances (or lack thereof). i do think she pays more attention to slice of life and romance movies, mostly because it's the sort of acting she never does and never really wants to do, but it's also something she can appreciate as an art form. (something something an artist can respect another artist most when they can't do what they do. or whatever. idk that sounds like a thing)
so yeah tldr: i think nichelle likes starring in action or thrillers the most, and has an appreciation when watching a slice of life or romance. if we believe hard enough, a reboot s3 will happen in the next like three years or something and we'll get canon material, but this is all i have in me </3
