Instead of rushing to get the last of my #13sketchesofhalloween posted yesterday, I decided to take some time after my Samhain ritual to work on this drawing into the wee hours of the night. For me, I often utilize drawing as an act of magic and the timing felt right to manifest this scene while the veil was thinnest and my ancestors were present. The figure on the right is the personification of the light half of the year- active, assertive, and fertile. The figure on the left is the personification of the dark half of the year- passive, reserved, and introspective. They burn Elder leaves among the crucible fire to signify the transference of power and the turning of the wheel. Elder is a plant of regeneration that represents death and rebirth. As you can see, it sprouts from the ground on the right side of the drawing and on the left it is harvested and held sacred by the dark half of the year. As we descend into shadow, may you find a renewed strength burning inside of you and nurture the darkness to find comfort in it’s embrace. Blessed Samhain! 🍂🖤🍂 #poisonappleprintshop #samhain https://www.instagram.com/p/BppPem-nCBq/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1jeef1bfk1398
