Thoughts on Minecraft 1.7 thus far.

-I like the new flowers. The whole "roses = poppies" thing is probably going to throw me off for a while, but I don't really mind it. -Is it just me, or is terrain generally more level and interesting now? There's a lot more flat land in extreme hills, for example, and much more exposed stone (plus floating chunks of rock and stuff). -I haven't formed opinions on all the new biomes yet, but I LOVE the savanna biome. Not too sure about the roofed forest though, it's kind of irking me (especially with how common it seems to be). -Also, BIRCH FOREST. YES. -I still have yet to find a mega-taiga/redwood forest or mesa biome. -Due to the fact that I have not found either of those biomes, I have yet to try out the new fishing features. But I have the feeling that I will love them. -My only major gripe with the update thus far (and it is admittedly ALMOST a deal-breaker for me) is the fact that water and ice are now opaque (at least when you're not underwater) on fast graphics. I have to run fast graphics because my computer is tripe, and not being able to gauge the depth of ponds and rivers is extremely offputting. -For the time being, though, most of the other features make up for this. For the time being. -I haven't tried out the AMPLIFIED world type because, as I said above, I have an awful computer. It is so tempting though.

Working on a running list of added features.

Will put it after a read more because, damn.

-achievement "Repopulation" - Breed two cows with wheat.

-achievement "Adventuring Time" - Discover all biomes.

-achievement "The Beginning?" - Spawn the wither. 13w36b fixed a bug where you could not acquire this achievement.

-achievement "The Beginning." - Kill the wither.

-achievement "Beaconator" - Create a full beacon

*Note: 13w36b fixed a bug where "Achievement" was misspelled.

-command "/?" - /help shortcut

- command "/achievement" unlocks achievements for players. Tab through the command to see all options.

-command "/summon" summons an entity (mob, falling sand, etc.) Several options for that, including the ability to stack entities.

-Added several different volume sliders to the options menu

-Added multiple resource pack support, with hierarchy determining texture conflict resolution.

-fishing now yields three new types of fish (clownfish, puffer fish, and raw salmon) as well as "fish". *13w36b fixed a bug where "fish" particles were emitted by all fish types when eating them.

-fishing now has a chance to yield some items.

-teleport coordinates are now oddly specific (i.e. Teleported MattInTheHat24 to 432.90960507031195,102.10507495932177,-191.5007370447764)

-sugarcane has new rendered texture colors (Unconfirmed whether or not they change with biome)

-new flowers! renamed "Flower" and roses are now "poppy", among the several other flowers they added. Roses now occur as "Rose Bush." All flowers craftable into dyes.

-biomes now have a chance to spawn with a rare form (Denoted by a word in parenthesis "()" after the biome name in the f3 menu.

-biome generation now makes more sense (Very rare for a snowy biome to generate next to a desert.)

-Ocean biomes no longer infinite (Hallelujah). However, they can still be fairly large. I do not recommend trying to swim across one.

-mesa biome (Made entirely of hardened clay) *13w36b fixed a bug where the hardened clay did not generate in a mesa biome.

-savanna biome (Jungle trees that look like they belong in a savanna) *Planted jungle saplings do not grow into the fancy generated savanna trees.

-No Snow Taiga biomes (still reads "Taiga" in f3, but distinct lack of snow is appreciated. Snowy ones do still generate.)

-Birch Forest (If you can't figure out what the specifics of that biome are based on it's name, I can't help you.)

-Ice spikes biome (Unsure of actual biome name. Have seen pictures, never experienced one myself.)

-Roofed forest (canopy style-tree. Thick spruce trunks, oak leaves. Dark forest floor. Occasional giant mushrooms)

-In some biomes, rain turns to snow above y=90(ish)

-Flint and Steel now has a shapeless crafting recipe (no longer will you feel stupid for crafting it incorrectly, for there is no wrong way to craft it!)

-Possible minor optimizations (Unconfirmed, but I get better Frames per Second now than I do in 1.6.X and below)

-"Amplified" biomes mode in generation options (Default/Superflat/XLBiomes/Amplified). Everything is super tall.

-Books now cloneable in the same way maps are.

-hitting an item frame will give you the item and leave the frame in tact. Hitting an empty frame drops the frame.

-can now see renamed item names while looking at things in item frames.

Will update as I find more things out, or as you tell me them! If you're gonna let me know a thing, please look at the notes first, I don't need a bunch of people telling me I missed the same thing. K thx hope you enjoyed.
