New Year is a time to wipe the slate clean, and make plans for the months to come. With January now well and truly upon us, all kinds of announcements are being made, as some of our favourite artists emerge from the shadows once more.
Looking ahead at the release schedule, it’s going to be a busy year, with some huge names coming back on cycle. In addition to this, some crucial figures in culture have begun dropping hints that new work is on the way. It’s all rather exciting, to be honest.
CLASH scribes got together to discuss the 18 releases that could define 2026 – from iconic music mavericks through to left-field voyagers, there’s something here for everyone.

Harry Styles
Anything Harry Styles does is big news. A fresh trim? International headlines. New shoes? Starmer must address parliament. A new album? Meltdown.
A series of cryptic posters appeared across the globe last weekend, in cities such as New York, Manchester, Sao Paulo, and Berlin. The message “we belong together” was superimposed over a picture of a stadium packed with fans, while a related website took users to a WhatsApp group dubbed ‘HSHQ’ – Harry Styles Headquarters.
So, it’s reasonable to assume that #HS4 is up and running. Seemingly the product of sessions stretching back three years, Harry was recently spotted exiting London’s top-of-the-range RAK Studios. He’s also heavily speculated to be organising residencies at Madison Square Garden in New York and Manchester’s very own Co-Op Live Arena. Time will tell, but this could be 2026’s marquee pop release. Robin Murray
Louis Tomlinson – How Did I Get Here?
The boy wonder returns. Louis Tomlinson is one of pop’s nice guys, someone who wants to give back at every turn. Whether that’s inviting (relative) unknowns to grab precious tour supports – thereby exposing their music to thousands of people at a time – or screening that all-important England game at his Glastonbury tent site, Louis Tomlinson is basically the Tom Hanks of British music – talented, and impossible to dislike.
‘How Did I Get Here?’ is his first album in four years, inspired by a trip to Costa Rica. Light-hearted and buoyant, the singles so far – a glitzy ‘Lemonade’ and a taut, anthemic ‘Palaces’ – point to understated confidence. Could this be his year? Why not eh. Robin Murray
