♧✍
♧ Any part of their canon portrayal you dislike?
i actually just really love snake’s canon portrayal. i love that kojima doesn’t skimp on the details of his mental illness, i love that it affects him throughout his entire story, i love that the early details of his life weren’t just tossed aside even if they were reworked in a way ( and then the prequels came but that’s another post ), and actually came back to play such an important role in 4. i didn’t totally agree with the entire patriots plot but that reflects more on my opinion of big boss than solid snake; it didn’t detract too much from his plot. if i had to say i disliked one thing, it’s his treatment of meryl in mgs1. i don’t like the general objectification. i know it’s supposed to be a jab at bond, but i’m still not into it. luckily, they toned it down for the other games.
✍ Has new canon material ever forced you to adjust your headcanons?
urgh, mgsv came in and shattered the way i dealt with miller and with outer heaven. it reframed that entire event, sucking part of big boss and snakes’ enmity out and turning miller into a manipulator in his relationship with snake, which i really didn’t like, because it seemed like he was the one adult whom snake could really trust to be there for him, which is what made the liquid reveal so painful, but then it turns out he was using snake all along, which isn’t out of character for how they painted kaz in the prequels, but it does make me sad that snake lost that good part of his life in a way.
hey!
