17064 Dear 17053 You may not realise it, but your confession was rather insensitive! Just because you have given birth to a child doesn’t mean you have to keep it no matter what. Some people cannot take care of their children for whatever reason, and therefore give them up for adoption so they can have a better life. It is not up to you to judge another person’s life, especially what I’m sure was a very difficult situation for her birth mother. Instead, why not praise Debbie Harry’s adoptive mother for raising such an amazing woman? There is more to motherhood than just giving birth!

17060 17053 I am not going to get into the ethical argument on how if you can’t afford to take care of a child, you should do what it takes for it to have what it needs, even if that includes giving it up for adoption, but i will say that if Debbie was never adopted, she may have not followed the path she did in life and became the musician she is. She may have not had the same opportunities she got with a family that adopted her.

Did you know that Blondie’s frontwoman, Debbie Harry, when she was a very little baby, like 3 months old, her mother gave her up for adoption? I know some people aren’t able to take care of a child and her mother didn’t know about her daughter’s future, but how could her birth mother give Debbie Harry up for adoption? Her daughter grew up to be one of the best celebrity women ever. Her daughter grew up to be the lead singer for a band everyone loves. Her daughter grew up to be a beautiful, stylish, fashionable, talented, creative, original and badass woman. Even if you’re not able to take care of a child, you should always keep the child that you’ve birthed and never abuse that child, because that child could grow up to be someone great in life, case in point? Debbie Harry.
