Still alive!
Okay okay. It has been faaaarrr too long since my last post. Due to crowds and crowds of person asking why I've not posted I thought I'd give a quick photo summary.
Now I'm not sure if this is the right place to post holiday photos but here's one I took in NYC. I had such an amazing holiday, if you've not been I'd defo recommend it!
Enough of that! So what DIY stuff have I been up to?
NYC inspired baking - Knish anyone?
I decided to build a few bass compressors - the first was the Tadek design from Hexe. This is a GREAT little compressor!
Then it snowed:
Then I carried on:
At Christmas I promised a friend bassist that I'd build him a pedal. He opted for a 'subtle' compressor so I opted for the Madbean Afterlife:
What next? Erm. Oh yeah, also decided to do a quick bass overdrive. Run Off Groove redid their Ampeg-style pedal (now called the Ginger) so I thought I'd do that...
This is yet another GREAT circuit from ROG. Really really nice!
Another compressor came on to the list - this one was done by a German DIY board and now Musikding supply a kit of parts. The instructions are sketchy at best, but as long as you have a bit of sense about you... you'll be fine!
Again this is an amazing compressor - its based on the Carl Martin compressor and is great on bass and guitar!
Carrying on with the ROG theme I decided to build the newest addition to the ROG family - the Thinderbird.
Check out the LED mounted Millennium Bypass... GOOD TIMES!!!
Again this is an AWESOME sounding pedal! Go build one! 1776-effects sell a PCB if you wanna grab one!
Anything else? Oh yeah. I've had some perf-board laying around for a couple of years and finally decided to use it up. In the past month or so I built a fuzz into an old case which didnt really work out for me so I decided to refit with a different circuit... I read on John Kallas' site that he really loved the Fairfield Barbershop so I looked around and saw glowing-review-after-glowing-review... The build was inevitable!!!
You can see how I childishly scrawled an alternative reference over/around the FY-2 as it was originally labelled!
Anyway this pedal is AMAZING! Really recommend getting one, building one or borrowing (NOT STEALING!) one. I think it may boot my Timmy off low-drive position. Just great. Be aware that the J-fets need to bias correctly so where it says J201... don't use a 2n4547... it sounds POO.
Anyway - I'm sure there is more. Like getting married in the summer. Our trip to London. My ankle being strong enough since I REALLY screwed it up to start running again... its amazing how much you can cram into a few months!
Hopefully not so long 'til next time.
x
