Gunshots rang out from the neighbouring room, and the faintest of smirks graced the lips of Private Lynn Lorraine. It seemed that Agent Carter was none too pleased with Captain Rogers having kissed her, an act that had been carefully timed so that Peggy would see.
Perhaps she had shot the Captain dead in a fit of jilted passion. Mystique would not mourn, Rogers was nothing more than a human science experiment, a danger to the future generations of mutants to come. He and his team were potentially dangerous, and the best way to neutralise them was by sowing dissension among them.
Taking advantage of the distraction she slipped into the record room. Hydra was paying Leni Zauber, German double-agent and expert spy to keep them informed of the SSR’s activities, but her loyalty wasn’t to them. Irene had told her of the potential of Vita Rays to enhance mutant abilities, information she simply had to have. Locating the Vita Ray research file, she slipped it under her blazer and turned to return to her post.
