“Quit trying to work Sid up,” Jonny says, refusing to even look up from his tablet.
“He already thinks we’re incompetent so I’m completing the picture,” Patrick says, rubbing over the sore spot on his arm.
Crosby rolls his eyes. Next to him, Malkin has his head tipped back and his eyes closed like it’s possible to catch a wink of sleep in this tin shakerbox.
“I don’t think you’re incompetent. Unguided sentinels are just inherently unpredictable. I don’t like unnecessary variables in the field,” he says like the fucking robot he is.
“He’s not wrong,” Jonny adds like the fucking traitor he is.
The function of the International Sentinel Bureau is to protect the world and its people. Sentinels, enhanced agents with superior senses and skills, and their Guides, humans which allow them to avoid being overwhelmed by their own senses, are at the heart of this mission.
