It's the end of June and the new Phantom offerings are a mixed bag!
The Phantom Cabinet by Jeremy Thompson is an odd little book, revolving around a young man who seems to have part of his soul stuck in the afterlife, battling against a porcelain-masked nemesis. It's the most "is this even related?" option this month, for those who like that!
The Phantom of the Sauna is a rare new entry into the adult Phantom film category, I think! It tells the story of a young man who begins frequenting a sauna and not only getting found-family adopted by the place but also falling for a mysterious and sexy resident Phantom.
And we've got two rereleases of older stuff that I know some of you are going to be excited about!
First, if you wanted the newest version of the 1988 Emerald City animated classic version of the story, it's out on DVD! Thrill to the Persian's magnificent turban. Chill as Christine passes out from a yellow skull grinning at her. Vibe with the snarkiest screen Erik's lines.
Second, we have a new professionally shot version of the 1991 Yeston/Kopit musical from Korea, featuring an all-star cast with everyone from opera singers to K-pop idols! It looks like a worthy addition and I'm looking forward to seeing what kinds of performance differences it has versus the Japanese Takarazuka troupe versions of the same show.
And that's it this month! May we all find something fun and relaxing in a sauna this month if that's our thing.
