Had super fun with y’all ♥
THROWBACK: Thomasian Freshman Week 2015 | August 3-7, 2015 | UST Campus
Wow, it has been a while. It seems like it was just yesterday when i-just-came-from-a-5-month-vacation Chiara was so nervous to enter college. I was so scared back then because of these main reasons
1. it’ll be my first time to have guy classmates (well i had some back at kindergarten but i don’t remember a single memory okay)
2. it’ll be my first time to live far from home (it’s time consuming to commute from Manila to Marikina so I lived somewhere near UST)
3. it will be a whole new world for me like goodbye sa mga kinasanayan nung high school. New environment, new friends, new subjects, NEW EVERYTHING but still the same me of course.
Nevertheless, it is all part of life. One needs to move on to become a greater person. You cannot live on the same setting for the rest of your life. Keeping this in mind, I stepped the game up, accepted the challenge and moved on to college life.
I was enrolled in University of Santo Tomas, the Royal, Pontifical and Catholic university under the College of Rehabilitation Sciences: BS Occupational Therapy. During 4th year high school, I was still undecided on what course to take in college. Attending some OT sessions of my brother, who has special needs, helped me figure out that I wanted to do those stuff that OTs do.
Moving on, before the official start of classes on August 10, 2015, UST has this some sort of welcome week with welcoming activities in store for the freshmen.
AUGUST 3, 2015 | Mass of the Holy Spirit
I thought that this was a university wide mass so my HS friends and I came but it turned out that it was exclusive for the faculty and staff. Keith, Maeca, Divine, Lourdes and I took care of college preparation stuff instead and being the Korean enthusiasts that we are, we ate at Hanayo (a Korean resto at P.Noval).
AUGUST 4, 2015 | CRS Orientation & Roarientation
The day when we first wore our Type A uniforms. I remember na nawawala-wala pa ako nun papunta sa Med Audi. The first blockmate I talked to was Reg and we were both lost and eventually, found our way to the auditorium. It was the first time 1OT gathered together. I remember people memorizing names here and there, asking for cellphone numbers & asking questions such as “Ano ulit pangalan mo? Parang nakita na kita sa groupchat.”, “Saang school ka galing?” etc. As far as I remember, my seatmates were Reg, Coleen & Ernesto. We got to know more about our college during that time. After, we went out the auditorium and I saw a group of familiar girls na nagkukumpulan. They were familiar because I already talked to them on Facebook hehe technology. So, my first legit lunch with college blockmates was at KFC and I ate with Ciara, Camille, Jerika and Audrye.
During the afternoon, there was a University Wide orientation. It was lit ISTG. Forget about the boring orientations you had before, UST has changed the game. My tweet above kind of summarizes it all. My seatmates were Jerika, Beni and Lychelle. We also got to talk to some of our guy blockmates who were seated infront and I really tried my best not to be awkward HAHAHA (awkward laugh) I also remember dancing to the tune of ' Shut Up and Dance With Me’ with all of the freshies. It was our supposed “Batch Dance” ok i see HAHAAHA and then, we also chanted the different UST cheers yahoooo GO USTE!! I also saw a G-Dragon look a like after the event. I was so shocked idk if it was just me or I was just deluding myself because I just attended a BIGBANG concert 5 days before that day lol anyways, it was vv fun!!!
AUGUST 5, 2015 | Thomasian Welcome Walk 2015
The moment we all have been waiting for. It was the annual, TWW!! It’s the day where we’ll enter the historical Arch of the Centuries. Legend says that if you exit the arch before your graduation, you won’t be able to graduate in UST. Hmmmm HAHA Anyways, I went kind of late because I’m cool like that HAHA We were given cutie tiaras and balloon swords. We all gathered in one room while waiting for the parade to start. 1OTA & 1OTB were separated so apparently, that was our first time to be grouped. I had a little k-pop talk with Jerika because I figured out that she was also a kpop fan like me yay! Before the parade started, we were given should I say, lootbags (?) with different UST goodies inside. Continuing, my parade-mates were Jerika, Audrye & Kim. I remember that we all wanted to cheer CRS cheers out loud but no one or only a few are doing it so we were like meh these blockmates are so boring HAHAHA I also remember mocking a blockmate (later I knew that he was Sancho) because he was just like strutting in the park or what. After a few minutes of parading, we finally reached the front of the Arch. We were so excited and the atmosphere was so fairytale-ish with knights, castle board, marching band etc. surrounding us. With that, we entered the arch with our freshie expectations & dreams. ♥
