A White Church, Homes and a Mountain Backdrop (Field, BC; Yoho National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: While I loved the black & white image in this small town setting in the Canadian Rockies of British Columbia, I found the color image taken had its own take that came on with color contrasts. Whites of the church, greens and yellows of the tree leaves, browns and purples of the mountain and finally whites again with the clouds above.
A White Church, Homes and a Mountain Backdrop (Black & White, Yoho National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: A setting that just needed a wide angle view to capture the feel while walking the streets of Field, BC. It's like seemingly any small town in Canada or the US that I've walked over my many years...it just happens to have some impressive mountains all around! This is a look to the east while standing in the intersection of E 1st St and 1st Ave with Mount Stephen as a backdrop. For the final image, I decided to convert to black & white with Silver Efex Pro 2 and then work with some of the color filters to bring out a richer tonal contrast. The whites of the church definitely stood out as a contrast to the darker tones of the trees and mountainside. In the end, it was just nice to walk around this BC town and share in the views!
