Day 88
No wedge today. Been working on this and I think I’m done with the stitching! Gotta look at it tomorrow in daylight and see if things eat my soul or not, but I think I’m pretty much to the point of getting some felt and fusing this piece onto it. Just might do that tomorrow.
1 Stitch a day (27th March - 2nd April)
27th - orange french knots - Nothing really happened. Just the usual procrastination!
28th - disco ball thing - I had a field trip to Bristol and there was this really cool statue thing that looked like a huge disco ball. It was pretty cool!
29th - piece of paper - I started planning my 2000 word essay. It was a long, long process!
30th - leaves - I spent many hours trying to outline leaves on my little women embroidery. It was worth it though - I’ve soaked off the backing! Now I’ve just got to do a lot of satin stitch and french knots!
31st - orange ping pong ball- my flatmates and I played beer pong. But without beer and cups. We ran out of beer and used cupcake cases instead. It was so much fun. We may have danced to High School Musical too....
1st - washing machine - I did three loads of washing. I was a proper adult!
2nd - milky bar button - I accidentally stress ate a whole bag of milky bar buttons when I was writing my assignment. Oops.
Day 86 B-9
Had to do a redemption Pekinese with looser backstitches. Much better in the loopdeloop department. This is the same Anchor variegated thread I used on the collar of the jacket; I like that the color changes fast enough to be seen on one of these little wedges. I wish the thread itself were nicer, cause it’s cheap, too.
Day 82
No wedge today, so that’s one I have to make up in the future. Finally working on the outline and I’m feeling good about the project again. All those patchy bald spots are starting to make sense and I hope to finish this part of it in the next few days! Actually, that brings me to a question. My plan when the outline is done is to use this stuff to attach the whole thing to another piece of fabric, then cut it out pretty close and attach to the jacket. Will the fusible interfacing do what I need it to do here? Do I need to do some kind of blanket stitch around the outline of the whole thing? (Can I sew it to the jacket using a blanket stitch?) Will this keep it from fraying or do I have to use Fray-Check around the edge? Once I sew it to the jacket do I even care if the muslin frays?
Day 77 C-10
Quick lazy wedge since I have a headache. Loops and loops of a sort of cherry-pie-a-la-mode color from the bag of random stuff that needs sorting. I just kept going until the color changed. It kind of eclipsed the yellow one next to it, but that’s okay, I didn’t like that one much anyway.
In other news, we’re organizing the office and I brought all my goodies down here, finally.
Day 80 A-5
Coral stitch in silvery gray DMC 414, the last color on Harriet before I start the outlining tomorrow. I don’t usually like to use straight black but I think I will do the outlines in black anyway, try to get some contrast into places I think need it. Progress photos as it starts to come together.
Day 68 B-3
So you've shamed/intrigued/challenged me into doing some repairs. I’ve picked out colors for fixing a quilt with a bunch of holes in it, and that’ll be a cozy thing I do over the winter, but for today I’m fixing the blown-out elbow seam of the denim jacket from the French woman’s yard sale. I left the big loose hanks of hanging thread where they were and just embroidered Xs through the seam in Anchor 1375 multicolor thread. Then I did some Xs on my wedge for today in the same thread. In other news, I broke my first needle today!
Day 79 B-1, C-1
So have you ever gotten an urge to embroider a carrot on something?
DMC 970 and 986. Note how I neatly solved my backlog of two wedges and caught up for the year. Ignore how I made a tactical error by using up two of the nice big wedges for the greens. #YOLO ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
