Dorkout saw the picture of the "2 Sybils" and said something about "Sybil as Twins!" Magfreak then added to it, saying:
How about a Princess and the Pauper story: Sybil Crawley meets by chance a girl who works as a maid at Grantham Arms in the village who looks just like her. They switch places so Sybil can see what it’s like to work and live on her own and the pauper (let’s call her Sarah) can learn using the Downton library so she may get a better job as a teacher in the future. Meanwhile, Sybil, in love with Tom Branson, the new chauffer, pursues him freely in her new guise but doesn’t tell him who she really is afraid that he won’t love her if he knows she is rich. So he thinks he is falling in love with a girl of his own class, not a lady of the house.
BUT WAIT, I say; let's EMBRACE THE CRACK-TASTIC POSSIBILITIES OF SUCH A FIC!
Let's have 2 TOMS too!
First, we'll have Tom the chauffeur...*AND* Tom, a distant cousin to Earl of Grantham (not the direct heir however)--in fact, let's make him Tom Bellasis!
Tom the chauffeur falls in love with Sybil (Robert's youngest who's pretending to be a housemaid)...MEANWHILE Tom Bellasis falls in love with "Sarah Crawford" the maid from the Grantham Arms whose pretending to be "Sybil"...
Confused? Imagine all of them when they start flirting/exchanging kisses/meeting in secret and so forth! AHHH!!! Will the truth ever come out? What will Branson, who wants to be a journalist, do when he realizes the woman he loves is a member of the aristocracy, the very group he's against? What will Mr. Bellasis, who's come to Downton on behalf of Lord Grantham to woo "Lady Sybil", do when he realizes the woman he loves is really a working class Yorkshire housemaid?
ANGST AND COMEDY!!!
