i had the worst idea of all time, that is watching s2e20 thinking "the finale only takes episodes 21 and 22 and the last ones (18 and 19) were nice but nothing to make me go head over heels. why not watch episode 20?"

i'm dead serious when i say that i didn't feel an ounce of relief for like an hour after that. usually sam and dean speak to each other about what happened, and in this way the writer lets them live through whatever happened while having the chance to move on, both psychologically (as much as it's possible) and plot-wise. but this??? sam speaks and dean barely answers. at the very end he just doesn't. he looks dead inside and very, very, very suicidal. actually he killed himself (ironically, to live) during this very episode.
