Comforting Alarms
Date : 20 February 2019
Duration : 25 minutes at bedtime
Depth :
Am not quite sure but I may have arrived at an ability to meditate in the subconscious even when there are distractions around me ! Of course, I observed this for the first time only yesterday. So I can’t be sure if I am going to catch myself doing this again.
I meditated before my daughter did. While I was meditating at my deepest best, she walked into the room and began doing stuff around. Not only did I know that she is present but also I remained aloof enough from her movements. Aloof enough to meditate in the shallow if not the deep subconscious.
The sounds that were louder than what she had assumed, were the sounds that were making me jump. Jump, mind you. Usually, it’s me anticipating every move of a family member and anticipating the next move. Therefore, there usually is no surprise in me about sounds that I am tangled with. In fact, I have gone completely off meditation while in the meditation posture just because of family members moving around me.
To be jerked into attention to an external familiar sound is so much like getting woken by a familiar alarm ring. My concentration last night towards the end of those 25 minutes was like that. It had some depth and the depth had a momentum of its own. Even those sounds that I am deeply involved with, didn’t disturb be. Only something that my mind is naturally tuned to experience as ‘alarming’, snapped me out of the meditation technique.
In Flip Flappers, was it ever explained why a trio (Yayaka, Toto, and Yuyu) was necessary for the Asclepius group to enter Pure Illusion, while for Flip Flap only two was necessary (Cocona and Papika). Why was Yayaka needed if the twins were already born from Amorphous? And was it even ever explained why Mimi needed a partner in the first place?
Actually, I don’t know if it is strictly established that Asclepius needed a trio. Because we know from Yayaka’s backstory that she’s been working with Asclepius ever since she was a kid - probably since before Toto and Yuyu were ever created. Assuming they don’t need a trio, Asclepius probably just trusted Yayaka to go alongside the twins because in spying on Cocona, she’d already proved that she was trustworthy and capable. If they needed a trio, they wouldn’t have threatened to fire Yayaka towards the end, because then they wouldn’t have their trio.
That being said, they do go on to create Nyunyu around the time Yayaka keeps wasting her chances and losing the stones to PapiCoco, so maybe they did need the trio. Though Nyunyu might just have been created for the sake of it. It’s always good to have some backups. Not really sure for this one, unfortunately.
As for your second question though, I think the partner thing is to do with impedance, the little gimmick they use early on to justify Papika and Cocona occasionally splitting from one another when they enter Pure Illusion. For whatever reason, impedance just kind of implies that at least two people need to enter Pure Illusion at the same time - specifically two with a strong bond. That’s probably why Toto and Yuyu were created as twins. And for what it’s worth, I don’t think the partner thing feels like a lazy plot contrivance or anything - stuff like the switching mechanic in the Iro episode at least go to show that they wanted to play around with the idea, even if the idea itself wasn’t explained in the greatest of depth.
Sorry if my answers aren’t the best, but from the top of my head the show doesn’t give me too much to work with in regards to these questions and I’ve never really been good at speculation anyway. Still, I hope these answers are satisfactory. If any of the other 12 people in the Flip Flappers fandom have their own interpretations or answers for these questions, feel free to speak up. Also feel free to tear my own answers apart if they’re garbage.
5 day weekend boysssssssss
Neyleth leaned back, Helzana's strong wingbeats driving them ever forwards.
It had been a peculiar mix of emotions; genuine joy at seeing her friend, and an outpouring of long-standing unhappiness.
And yet, thinking of it now brought a small smile to her face. Maybe she'd needed to discuss it, to acknowledge the unhappy thoughts that haunted her in the early hours of the morning.
Closing her eyes, she let Helzana guide them through the midnight sky.
