Question for you! Do you know if there exists a full orchestral score of the 2004 Phantom film? There are so many gorgeous instrumentals in that movie that I adore. I’m specifically thinking of the music in the scene where Meg is in Christine’s dressing room and discovers the hidden passageway behind the mirror.
You know, this ask has been in here for a while because I was mad at it? (Not you, vampire-chunks, just the fact that I couldn't get an answer!)
Obviously, this score has to exist somewhere because actual human beings had to look at it in order to play their instruments and record the soundtrack, but it may not be somewhere that it's very easily purchasable. I have trolled through all the places I normally buy film and show scores and come up with nothing; I've tried every vendor I can think of. I've even made some visits to some interesting parts of the web, where I've spotted a few people asking the same question (or maybe that was you!) but few have ever gotten a satisfactory response.
I suspect that RUG probably didn't release a version of the film score because it would be in direct competition with their already-existing sales of the musical score, and since there aren't a ton of differences, they figured it wouldn't be worth the dual printing. Which is a shame, since as you noted there is some neat incidental music in the film.
If someone else has any info, I'd love to hear about it!
Erik didn't even look that bad in the 2004 movie version. Like damn dude my acne has been worse than that and I'm not committing homicides over that.
What Your Fave Phantom Says About You
Leroux: Fucking nerd. Buys new books when they haven't finished the ones they already own. A powerful entity, always tired. Charles Dance: Super fucking sweet if not a little confused at most things. Cries at Disney movies. Probably has an aesthetic blog. Musical: Dramatic bitch. 0 to 100 real quick. Tries to act like a badass, is actually a big baby. Robert Englund: What the fuck dude? Probably had a crush on Benedict Cumberbatch. Makes bad life decisions. Susan Kay: Literally the most extra person you've ever met. Acts over the top to compensate for bad self image. Actually a huge nerd, unironically enjoys bad movies. Phantom of the Paradise: I diagnose you with gay. Gerard Butler: Physically in the modern age, mentally in 2007. Enjoys cheesy romance tropes and actively seeks them out in fics. Cries easily.
Kiss Prompt 9 - In Public
As always, my prompts are E/C so here we go. Thanks anon!
I had business to tend to, that was the only reason I’d left the fifth cellar that night in my morbidly appropriate costume.
I hadn’t seen Christine or anyone for that matter in months. The last time I’d seen her it had been on the roof after Buquet. She hadn’t seen me, of course, but I had seen everything...
On many occasions I had yearned to seek her out… to venture aboveground just for a glimpse. A glimpse couldn’t hurt anyone could it? No one but I. And it would hurt after what I’d witnessed. I yearned to set eyes on her again, perhaps even speak to her – finally just speak to her after everything but how could I possibly face her after she had shattered my heart on that rooftop? I had given everything and she had simply cast me aside for the boy’s status and pretty face…
Me: Wow, I really like the 2004 poto movie!
People: The music is crappy and the acting is bad-
Me*intensified*: WOW, I SURE LIKE THIS MOVIE AND NO ONE CAN RUIN IT!!!
me: The Phantom is NOT supposed to be attractive!!! His ugliness and deformity are essential aspects of the plot and making him conventionally attractive absolutely defeats the purpose!
also me, looking at Gerard's Phantom: ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Consider this
Everything is the same except in Final Lair, instead of forcing Christine into it. Erik wears the wedding dress and the veil, giving nightmares to everyone.
