While fan critics are right that Pride and Prejudice (1995) is a much closer adaption to the novel than (2005), I can’t bring myself to agree with that making the miniseries superior. If I’m going to spend 7ish hours (because commercials) consuming P&P, I’d much sooner just read the novel. Because you know how to make sure the characterizations and plot points perfectly match what Austen intended? Read the Austen! If I want to watch a dreamy love story unfold, I’ll go for the movie and accept the omissions.
