Kaitlin & Jean-Luc in their 2nd season together, 17/20 yo, when they won every event except for a silver at JGPF - these are their Junior Worlds 🥇skates - they were so so good 😭 they’re so musical, look light and easy in hold, and already in such unison, their one foot is better as juniors than some senior teams, and they're skating with abandon
she was very emotional and open back then - look how she reacts at the end of their FD - hate to think how she was hurt over the years
of the 28 teams who competed at junior worlds in 2014, Kaitlin and Jean Luc are the ONLY team still competing. longevity like that takes such love and commitment and drive, you have to be well matched, you have to be good and produce results, and you have to have some luck - that you're recognized and have resources, that politically things line up well enough (even if in their case it's never been what they deserved), that you stay healthy, which they unfortunately haven't, recently
there are a few skaters still around from that competition, if not teams -- both Olivia and Tim were there with former partners, as were Michael Parsons, Romain LeGac and Lorraine McNamara. the other two teams on the podium split not long after
