FINAL RECAP: What we learned at CES 2013 & what every brand should know
What We Learned at CES 2013 and What Ever Brand Should Know - Final Recap from Ogilvy & Mather
The 2013 International CES topped 150,000 attendees, covered 1.92 million square feet of exhibit space, unveiled 20,000 new products and showcased hundreds of speakers discussing the state of the technology industry in just four days.
But with all the hype, commotion and can-not-miss content flowing throughout the 4 day event, we wanted to find the answers to the one thing on the top of all of our minds, “What does all of this mean for my brand?”
Ogilvy & Mather broke down the 2013 International CES into bite size chunks of the most important brand takeaways and trends that you’ll find compiled within “What We Learned at CES & What Every Brand Should Know”. Enjoy.
CES SWAG Contest
So you didn't get to go to CES this year. No problem! Win a Rawporter Swag Bag and you'll get all our favorite things from CES. Well, not the new 4K TVs we saw, but some cool stuff nonetheless.
Here's the deal:
To enter, just sign up for a Rawporter account, download our App, or submit a photo or video.
We'll pick two winners at random on Friday January 18th at 5PM ET. You get one entry for each action (one for a new account, one for downloading the App, and one for each photo or video you upload).
There is no legal mumbo-jumbo because that stuff annoys us. It's just a backpack full of cool stuff, so try not to over-think this. This isn't Publisher's Clearing House, and you will not become a millionaire. :)
So start uploading, downloading, and signing up! Just think how cool you'll look with your official CES Swag Bag.

The 2013 Consumer Electronics show is a wrap, and now that we know something about the hundreds of new TVs models, it's worth asking whether all those new technologies will improve what matters: picture quality. Read this post by David Katzmaier on CES 2013: Televisions.
this just in: CES is kinda big
This picture is a good metaphor for CES. Let's just say it's way bigger than you can possibly take in. And as first timers, we were equal parts inspired, overwhelmed, humbled, and energized. Here are some of the highlights:
Eureka Park in the Venetian was home for most of our week at CES. It housed the smaller start-ups that didn't have the funding of the big guys, but brought just as many killer innovations. My favorite was this touch screen that was powered by steam! Not sure how useful it is, but talk about cool. And of course this body scanner which makes shopping way easier. Kev liked this super small and incredibly powerful speaker.
We tried to spend a day at the main exhibits, but frankly, it was way too overwhelming. You really need a gameplan, or at least a niche within CES to explore. Wandering around trying to take in everything is just a terrible idea--though that's exactly what we tried to do. #learning :)
My favorite exhibit in the main showroom featured celebrity chef Dana Cohen from Hell's Kitchen, but I think that's because she fed us amazing shrimp fritters. Kevin was too busy filming and totally missed out.
The good news is that we never ended up like this person: #sleepinginpublic
And no trip to Vegas would be complete without a wedding. Our buddy Kyle from Nibletz married his wife at the top of the Stratosphere! How incredible is this view?
Anyway, if you're into tech and you haven't ever been, CES is definitely a once in a lifetime experience. If you want to present there, you better bring it because you're competing with TONS of amazing companies to stand out. If you just want to explore, have a gameplan, but don't stress when that plan goes out the window. Our best days were catching up with new and old friends over beer, sushi, or a vintage bottle of Dom (thanks Eddie!).
