New fanfic trend: 2016 AUs. The characters are going about their normal lives and 2016-typical events start happening at them. Unless it’s the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, in which case they might not notice.
Mostly I want this because make it about the real world and we could start seeing “2016 Modern AU” as early as 2021.
