So this weekend was kind of the best weekend ever. On Saturday I went to Skate America with my mom and grandma. We got to see Women’s freeskate, Men’s short, Pairs freeskate, and Ice Dance short. I finally got to see Ashley compete and she won! Before the second session (pairs and ice dance), they had an autograph signing with the US men. I was second in line and my mom somehow missed the picture with Adam Rippon and this was my first time getting to see him. We went to the back of the line because I wanted it so badly... and I got it! When we were watching the ice dancers, the in-arena announcers gave us free tickets to the exhibition on Sunday which was amazing! Also my mom and I were trying to watch the skating and keep up to date with the Cubs and Hawks and they both won. After the skating ended, we went to Dick’s sporting goods and got our national league champions shirts.
On Sunday, my mom and I went to see the Men’s freeskate and Ice dance free dance (session 4) and the Smucker’s skating spectacular (the exhibition). Prior to the fourth session, I finally got a picture with Ashley Wagner and her autograph along with the rest of the Ladies and pairs skaters. After the awards ceremony, I got another picture with Jason and his second place medal and Adam with his third place medal which was amazing. My friend also went to the exhibition and after it ended we were finally able to get the Shibutani’s autographs and a picture with both of them. We also asked Alex to send a snapchat video to one of our friends and they are so nice.
So basically highlight was finally getting a picture with Adam, Ashley, and the Shibutanis. This was the third time that Skate America was close enough that I could go and I finally was able to see them compete. Next year Skate America is in Lake Placid so I doubt I’ll be able to go. But I wish this weekend never ended because it was just amazing.
