Louisianne-Kpop 2017 Dramas: Part 3 *favorites*

Attention, Love (CTV) - This drama was so cute. Not my favorite of this year (that’s a Chinese drama), but this drama was so cute and I love how the title is the character's names (The title is 稍息立正我愛你 - shāo xí lìzhèng wǒ ài nǐ). Shao Xi and Li Zheng were destined to be together since birth. Shao Xi, “at ease”, is an easy going girl who with a lazy approach in life and school while Li Zheng, “attention”, is smart and diligent in everything he does. When Li Zheng returns to Taiwan, the two meet for the first time and with such drastic personalities, how could they get along? Watching the two of them fall for each other just go about life is so cute and I loved this. I feel bad that “Memory Love” was up against this drama, but this one was really better. - 10/10

Because of Meeting You (Hunan TV) - I always have one drama that I absolutely love. Note, nothing can top “LoveO2O” for me. That is the ultimate best drama in the world, but this one is right behind it. This is actually a remake of the Korean drama “Come! Jang Bo-Ri”. I’ve never watched the Korean version and it’s going to be hard for me to watch because if I watch one version, I make it hard to watch another because I have to make comparisons. I did watch the first two episodes of “Come! Jang Bo-Ri” and both shows are the same except one is in China while the other is in Korea.

Zhang Guo Guo was a simple delivery girl working at her mom’s wonton shop but her bright personality made everyone around her happy, except her mom. It’s later on that Guo Guo finds out that she has a great talent for embroidery and she dreams for being successful in it. What’s keeping her from that success and her actual life is her fake sister. Guo Guo was found by Wang Ai Yu and her daughter one rainy night and forced to take in Guo Guo (real name Jin Yi Bei). How everything unfurls and affects everyone in Yi Bei/Guo Guo’s life happens to cover up lies. You have to watch this drama to see Sun Yi and Deng Lun’s chemistry. I loved them together and really the ending makes it all worthwhile. I might still try and finish “Go! Jang Bo Ri” but “Because of Meeting You” is my favorite drama of 2017. - 10/10

Because This is My First Life(tvN) - I wasn’t going to watch this drama but my friend @mousiesshi pulled me in while I was staying with her and OMG! It’s so precious! Yoon JiHo was an assistant drama writer who, through troubles and disappointment, gives up her job, but after meeting Name SeHee, her life changes. The two enter into a contract to be housemates with different titles: husband and wife. How they go about their lives and experience “firsts” with each other is so cute (so many cute dramas this year!) - 10/10

Strong Woman Do Bong Soon(JTBC) - This drama is *heart eyes*. You have Do BongSoon, a woman who is incredibly strong, but she can only use her strength to help others. She tries to avoid using her strength, focusing on her dream to make a video game of strong woman similar to herself, until she meets with eclectic gaming CEO An Min-Hyuk. With violent threats against him, Min-hyuk, having witnesses BongSoon’s strength and falling for her, decides to hire BongSoon as his bodyguard. BongSoon doesn’t accept at first until Min-Hyuk offers her a future at his company and at making her game. At the same time, a crime against women are being committed in BongSoon’s neighbor, as her best friend and unrequited love, In Kook-Do, investigate and try to keep BongSoon safe as he thinks she’s a “normal girl”. When the killer/kidnapper targets BongSoon, All three work to keep each other safe. My friends and I love this drama because of the chemistry between HyungSik and JiSoo. The two of them are like JongSuk and WooBin in “School 2013”. - 10/10

Louisianne-Kpop 2017 Dramas: Part 2 

My Shy Boss (tvN) - I picked this drama up while looking for others. It’s a common thing for me. The premise is cute. A shy genius CEO who meets a spunky girl who pulls him out of his shell, but right now I’m watching “I’m Not A Robot” who kind of does it better. I didn’t finished this drama either but I did watch up until ep 4. My rule is if I get past episode 2 on a drama, I liked something about it and it will be allowed for the end of the year report. I might go back and finish but as of now, not really a good drama to me. Hyosung was funny in her part tho! - 4/10

Memory Love(SETTV) - I started this drama at the same time as “Attention,Love”. I didn’t finish this one but I did Attention, Love. XD It’s not a bad drama, but not as interesting as Attention, Love (and the ratings showed it). Xiu Kai and Jia En are a loving couple are split after an accident kills Xiu Kai and causing Jia En to lose her memory. They are reunited but with Xiu Kai’s heart in the strict chef Shao Tian and Jia En now convinced that she is Zhao Ai Li as her best friends try to keep AiLi/Jia En in the dark. The premise of the drama is cute and would be really good but it was airing at the same time at “Attention, Love” and I watched both dramas a the same time. Just like the public, “Attention, Love” was just a better drama. I would still recommend if you like cute melo-romance dramas. - 7/10

Into the World Again(SBS) -  From the writers of “Beautiful Gong Shim” & “Girl Who See Smells”, “Into the World Again”, is about Hae Sung, who dies on his birthday in a hit and run, only to comeback 12 years later looking the same age when he died. Now with his girlfriend, JungWon, they try to figure out how HaeSung came back and about another mysterious death involving the living dead boy. It’s an interesting drama and premise. The drama is about relationships and how you treat the people in life. It’s a nice drama to sit down to watch. Do bring tissues. - 9/10

Louisianne-Kpop 2017 Dramas: Part 1

Behind Your Smile (SETTV) - I was upset that this didn’t have supernatural elements like the synopsis says (Sorry, spoiler!) but the Faustian feel of the show is not there. It’s a revenge drama with all the suspense and betrayal. Zhao Yiting is cold and calculating, but no monster. He wants revenge but he won’t do too bad of things to get to Lin Man, the woman that ruined his life. Even if that means using Lin Man’s daughter, Lei Xinyu. Lei Xinyu is naive and the opening with her coming back from abroad to be attacked by those betrayed by her mother shows this and throughout the show you just want to make her realize that she needs to think and grow up but that’s what Yiting is doing. This was just a drama I watched on the down time where I was looking for another drama to watch. - 6/10

The Many Faces of Ito (Netflix)- I don’t have much access to Jdramas nowadays but Netflix is coming in clutch with these original series. I was worried about this drama but it was really good and the ending is OMG! The show centers on Rio Yazaki, a romance writer who is giving romance advice as she tries to find the next big story to her name after the success of her last story made into a show “Tokyo Dollhouse”. At a love advice event, she is met with 4 women who are all involved with a man named Ito. After talking with each woman, Rio and her agent decide to try and use their story for her next big hit. What unfurls is the life of a man who gets involves and mess with the lives of these four women. The twist that comes at the end is worth watch and how the whole show is framed is really good. If you have Netflix, give it a watch. - 10/10

Go Back Couple (KBS2)- What would you do if you could go back in time? Choi Ban-Do and Ma Jin-Joo were college sweethearts and married, hoping for the world. The world got too much and strained their lives until it was too much, ending in their divorce. A new life was to begin until they woke up in their 20 year old selves, back when they first met. Set on trying to not meet again in their new start at life, Ban-Do and Jin-joo always come back to each other no matter what. This drama was so cute and entertaining. If you liked any of the Reply series, you would enjoy this drama. I did get sick and tired of Jin-Joo and Ban-Do still acting like their 38 year old selves in their 20 year old bodies. It got really annoying when they were calling their friends “kids” and just acting like an ahjumma and ahjussi. That was my only complaint. - 8/10

Missing Nine (MBC) - I only watched this drama because of Chanyeol. I’m not going to lie. Chanyeol pulled me in but the story was interesting. It reminding me of LOST with all the mystery surrounding it. Nine individuals associated with a entertainment company are flying to a concert but trouble comes when the plane crashes. Only one survivor, Ra BongHee is found and awakes. What did she see and what happened to everyone else? I say watch if you liked LOST and just want a mystery. I didn’t finish this drama (got distracted by other dramas) but I would still recommend it. - 6/10

My Sassy Girl 2017 (SBS) - If you have not see the movie, and I don’t mean the stupid American version, and you like historical dramas, I would recommend this one. It’s basically a remake of the movie set in Joseon period with JooWon and Oh Yeon-Seo. It’s cute and stays true to the original. It’s kind of weird with how they changed it to be in the Joseon period but it was a nice drama. GyeonWoo returns from China to a position in the Korea’s high court but trouble befalls as Princess HyeMyung becomes entangled in his life. I won’t give it away but seriously, watching the original movie and watch this drama. You’ll love it. - 9/10

Voice (OCN) - Police procedural are so good and Korea does very good crime dramas. If I remember correctly, the hype around this drama, like Signal, pulled me in. A dispatcher with exceptional hearing, Kang Kwon-Ju, “witnessed” the murder of her father and detective Moo Jin-Hyuk’s wife over a radio. Her statement in court release the sure thing suspect of the murders, causing Jin-Hyuk to swear revenge on all involved in his wife’s murder, including Kwon-Ju. Years pass before the two are placed on the “Golden Time Team”, Kwon-Ju’s brainchild, to help get police to the scene of violent crimes before another death could happen. As they work together, Kwon-Ju and Jin-Hyuk learn new clues about the murders of their loved ones and the real killer. A very captivating drama. Upset that they keep type-casting Jang Hyuk as this “manly beast” of a man who is just anger. Jang Hyuk is a great actor and beautiful man. More romance comedies for Jang Hyuk! - 9/10
