Our third international artrist for Roots and Routes season is Reyjkavik based artist Freyja Eilif. and can be seen as from Monday 22 May at Coltman Street/Analby Road (HU3 2SB).

Freyja’s response to our call-out is titled ‘Message in a Bottle’ which highlights her concerns re> mass migration alongside man’s imprisionment and consumption of market forced ideas by intellectual suffocation.

As well as being a conscious recycle/found artist Freyja also runs the  Ekkisens Artspace and was featured alongside John Grant on the BBC’s North Atlantic Flux Hull 2017 programme screened in April.

We’re looking forward to her visit in June.

Originally from São Paulo, Larissa Monteiro is a multimedia artist based in Rotterdam. Her visual work investigates memory, language and daily (pagan) rituals through colour and texture, often depicting mundane objects or secretly perceived elements. Her past works involve the development of live visuals for the musician Moan (Boredoms) and the show How to Induce a Lucid Dream with Sylvana D’Angelo at Shudder Gallery, Vancouver.

Larissa is also the uber graphic designer, video artist and gif maker at Rotterdam’s experimental dadaist space, Worm where she uses analog liquid composition, VHS or own footage to make experimental imagery narrative with sound and everyday found materials materials.
