This would be the first ever selfie (first ever photo of myself, in fact) that I’ve posted on this site. Taking pictures has always been a source of anxiety and discomfiture on my part, and having done this counts as a small nugget of victory for me.

I was such an awkward creature in my teens, and was constantly bullied my weight and looks and coloration. As a young adult I wasn’t really any much better, for I was really self-conscious and lost, especially with regards to my identity and self-expression. 

It took me 4, almost 5 years into motherhood to fully come to terms and glory in who I am. I figured I might as well, for me, and for my child.
