Imagine when NQK is telling the story to her concerned friends after she gets rescued from Sensui. Still traumatized, voice shaky, hunched in on herself, mentions chapter black and Kurama, Ayame, and Hiei are all HORRIFIED and then NQK is all but thats far from the worst bit...you see he... he didn't let me wear a mask and didnt keep his distance and th-then *tearing up* he SNEEZED on me!

Oh THIS is absolutely canon for 2020!NQK. This'll be in the damn fic. I've been cracking up about it since this was submitted in 2020.

I don't remember if anyone else has ask but do u Think 2020nl!nqk wouldn't take the role as parole officer. I would think not but then again I see her taking the role solely so she can try a Sabatoge any way she can.

Oh hell yeah, I agree with the idea she might not take the job at all. I can hear her (mask-muffled) voice saying, "Work for the fucking feds? I don't think so!"

And you're 100% correct that if she DID take it, it would be to sabotage whatever she could. "Going undercover," so to speak. No way would NQK take orders from what she perceives as the Spirit Police...

If anything, I suspect 2020NQK might be GIVEN a parole officer, or at least a Spirit World Ankle Monitor™. (Oh, that's good, I might actually use that...) Something tells me she'll get in quite a bit of trouble in that AU...

How is 2020!nqKagome? Like is she more lenient then 2020!nqkeiko? Or does she wear a mask too?

Another ask from 2020. Jesus, I let the inbox get away from me...

Great question! NQKagome is much less die-hard about masking than NQKeiko. NQKeiko's desire to mask is born of trauma and anxiety colliding, and NQKagome has always been much more easygoing. As a result, she didn't come away from the process of rebirth with the paranoia shown by 2020!NQK.

I actually ended up elaborating on the reason 2020!NQK masks in a chapter of RIOT CHILD, which you can at the link below.

I'll also state that in a future RIOT CHILD chapter, you'll end up seeing both Minato and Kagome masking while in proximity to NQKeiko in order to make them feel more comfortable. While they didn't have the same trauma response, they understand and are sensitive to NQKeiko's preferences, and they do their best to make them comfortable in group settings.

Long story short: Even in this AU for LC, the Not Quites stick together and support each other... through thick, sick and thin.

OH! Also, I really want 2020NQK to be like, "Bold of you to assume, I am afraid of death/that I don't want to die" to anyone who threatens her, specifically Hiei, and have him be super fucking confused. Kurama would probably be like, " omg what is wrong with you? Are you ok?" 😆😂❤️

Low key though, 2020!NQK says this to Hiei while he has a sword trained on them. He's trying to threaten them, and they step close enough for the metal to make contact. They lean forward just enough to let the sword cut the smallest gash in their cheek. And they make unabashed, blank-faced eye contact with Hiei as blood trickles from the cut.

"Bold of you to assume," they say, "that death and I aren't old friends already."

And Hiei fucking falls in love.

Well. Maybe not "love." He wouldn't call it that. Neither would anyone else. But the look on 2020!NQK's face and the sheer, fearless incomprehensibility of that statement rattle his perception of 2020!NQK so completely that everything between them changes. There's no way a human that young should have that haunted look in their eye. There's just no way. He's instantly fascinated, and a grudging respect begins to build.

Something about the moment plants a seed in Hiei's heart. If nurtured right, it might bloom into something more.

And oh yeah you're totally right, Kurama witnesses all of this and goes—

2020!NQK is a feral gremlin-child whom Kurama regards with utmost suspicion and distaste. Hiei, meanwhile, eats that shit up.

Sorry, LC!Keirama fans. But I think 2020!Hieiko would wind up gaining some traction in this AU of a fanfic!

I mean I think 2020!NQK would be more receptive to Hiei's idea of a touching gift(delivering her hated enemies bound up for her to torture at her leisure). Maybe not literally that because that seems like to get blood on your floors and she's probably not big on torture, but I could see Hiei spiriting 2020!NQK for a romantic getaway into Cheeto Man's house with a bunch of knives or something

2020!NQK and Hiei are a murderous set of hobgoblins. If it's the right head, and not just some rando's head, I think 2020!NQK would be totally on board with receiving one in a box in lieu of flowers.

You're right that NQK isn't into torture, but a little terrorizing before Hiei swings his sword? Oh yeah. NQK is teaching Hiei to hold a camcorder so he can get the action of tape for posterity. They'd be down to watch that play out with popcorn, knowing it's for the greater good.

Romantic date nights with 2020!NQK and Hiei: food(always), burning Koenma's pictures, him observing her protests at a healthy distnace from the masses(and maybe throwing a couple things just for fun), arranging "accidents" for Meigo's least favorite billionaires together(HE can't kill humans but she can!), reading the latest manga issues together. What a wonderful couple

Oh my god, this is absolutely perfect. This is 100% what their relationships would be like. The first time he brings NQK some billionaire's head on a pike, NQK drops down onto one knee and proposes. They're in love, your honor, and billionaires will quake in fear at the sound of their wedding bells.

That's why I ship them in this AU, tbh. I think Hiei would understand this version of NQK perfectly and be game for all kinds of illegal shenanigans.

And if NQK said fuck it, they wanna go to Demon World and leave this shit behind? He'd be right there to lead the way.

How would the first meeting and friendship between Kurama and 2020!NQK take place and be like?

This ask is very old, but I'm replying to some of them tonight and figured I'd include a link.

This chapter dropped some big hints about how their relationship would develop in this version. First, NQK doesn't go to his school, so they don't have as many opportunities to become friendly. They also don't get off to a great start, and they're more like rivals or frenemies in this AU.

I think they'd squabble a LOT, tbh, and I'd really love to write a few installments of their bickering. It's a side of Kurama we haven't seen before in the LC-verse, that's for sure!

She also slowly becomes a cryptid of the woods and an urban legend to the children. "Keep away from the hut in the would of a masked witch will chase you away wielding purell and lysol."

Also I think there's a good chance 2020!NQK becomes some kind of park ranger once they graduate high school. Isolated, can help the environment, low carbon footprint, etc. Perfect fit.
