Hi all! This crazy year is finally drawing to a close. A lot has happened on both a personal and global level.
Speaking on the small scale, I’m envisioning some changes for this blog going forward:
More events. Some of the most fun I’ve had has been when writing for events like my own Frisky February and Kinktober. I’ll be hosting another FF event (with all new prompts!), and have begun planning another similar challenge for myself come April.
More multi-chapter fics. A few months ago, I made this post with links to Spotify playlists detailing all of the “vibes” of the upcoming long fics I have outlines and notes planned for. These will take up the majority of my writing time, and at present I have 7 of these planned. I highly doubt I will complete them all this year.
Less requests. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the two changes above, I will have far less time to write for anything else. For this reason, I have made the decision to only open headcanon requests semiannually. There will be more on this later, but essentially twice a year I will open my inbox to headcanon requests for a week during which time everyone will be able to send in all the requests they want and fill my inbox. I’ll work on all the requests I receive as I have time over the span of six months until the next time I open headcanon requests.
This year, I really want to expand my creativity and work on developing my own ideas. I hope you all will come along with me through these changes, as we embark on this new writing journey together! (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧
Relevant (reasonable, realistic and resourced, results-based).
Time bound (time-based, time limited, time/cost limited, timely, time-sensitive).
~~~~~~~ 1 ~~~~~~~~~
1. Career: Get a job and develop my career in Bioinformatics!
a. Do something to advance my career at least once a week.
b. Apply for jobs or Opportunities as much as possible! 5 Months til graduation in May, so Apply for 25 jobs or opportunities by May 2021. To be realistic, I want to re-evaluate this goal by the end of Jan. What is my rate of how many jobs I can apply for per month.
c. Network, go to conference and networking events! Go to at least one per month.
d. Practice a bioinformatics skill at least once a day!
ideas on how to do this is use datacamp, coursera, etc. I need a bioinformatics diary.
~~~~~~~ 2 ~~~~~~~~~
2. Romance: Figure out what I want in a life partner, focus, date, find him! ( for me I want my life partner to be a man, but no judgement for others who’s ideal mate is different. just respect.)
a. Spend some time to Journal and think about what has worked for me and not worked for me in past relationships, what did I like that I want in my future relationships, what didn’t work for me and I want different in future relationships, Lastly what can I bring to the table in the relationship.
b. Settle things with P.
c. Learn dutch for L and settle friendship.
d. Date and have honest conversations with people about what I want and what they want. Don’t run away from conflict, or brush things under the rug, articulate and voice my concerns, don’t be a pushover or a bully in relationships.
~~~~~~~ 3 ~~~~~~~~~
3. Health: Currently I weigh, 145 lbs. I am overweight for my height and for my race. Although, it’s not really obvious on my body. My mom’s herbalist, says if I don’t make lifestyle changes I could be diabetic. So I really want to overhaul my diet this year, lose weight, and get fit! I will update my tumblr monthly for this, but day to day exercise progress I think I will mostly keep private.
a. Weight myself the first week of every month and post onto tumblr.
b. Commit to doing 7 minute workout once a day.
c. Try to do some sort of cardio everyday, long walks to jump rope? This has been hard for me to commit to everyday, I need to be realistic with myself how many times a week I can do this.
d. I need to lose 25 pounds to be in the healthy BMI range, I am borderline obese currently. It kinda makes me want to cry to think about. I want to lose 30 pounds just to feel safe. But I think losing 25 pounds in 7 months is a reasonable goal. My goal is to lose 30 pounds by the end of the year.
~~~~~~~ 4 ~~~~~~~~~
4. Spiritual Growth: I want to continue growing as a person, develop self confidence, understand myself more, and my role in this life.
a. I’m not sure how to measure this one. But I think Journaling would be an idea to try to achieve this.
b. I want to make a vision board for 2021 by the end of this month.
~~~~~~~ 5 ~~~~~~~~~
5. Family: I want to be kinder to my family. 2020 was hard, living in close quarters made it hard to always be kind, loving, and patient with family. I hope to practice more patience with my mom in 2021.
a. I’m not sure how to measure this one either. But I think at the end of each month, I should have a conversation with my mom, my brother, and on how to have a better family relationship. I think it starts with communicating this goal with my family.
Well. That’s a lot. The italics are absolutes, while the bolded are things I plan to do this week. Anything else can wait until next year if they have to.
I plan to focus on some landscaping stuff like the stream and waterfall, as well as projects that will lay the foundation for next year, like the greenhouse. Native plants will get priority for the most part and only a small part of my property will be reserved for more traditional gardens.
Read All About It: Our 2020 Round-Up and 2021 Plans
Happy New Year! Wishing you healthy and prosperity in 2021. Read our 2020 round-up and 2021 plans in our new blog post here.
We all know what kind of year 2020 was for almost everyone, so will spare you the clichés and platitudes.
Our thoughts, of course, are with those whose lives were turned upside down by the pandemic and, in particular, those who have fallen victim to COVID-19.
For Azam Marketing and for our clients, it’s been a remarkably healthy year given the exceptionally trying circumstances we’ve faced.…
10? Can we get a preview of the hidden future (◠‿・)—☆
THANK YOU BOTH, I AM CRYING TT___TT
10.) What, if anything, are you going to try to do differently in your writing in the new year?
The question I thought was most interesting, and the question I most feared lol! This got long, so I’m throwing it beneath the cut.
So, um. 2020 has been a year, huh? But even with vaccines on the way, life in my country won’t change when the clock strikes midnight on Dec 31, 2020. The concept of planning for 2021, or guessing what I will be mentally/emotionally/spiritually/physically capable of... It’s a fool’s errand.
So I guess part of me is like, “My plan in 2021 is to not have a plan/not come in with big expectations.” If you’ve followed me for a long time (bless you, love), you might recall that I used to have these super mega ambitious goals every year. I stopped doing that around the time I started therapy and came to realize that I was pushing myself to burnout in my personal life, on top of always being pushed by my professional life.
So now I’m kind of like... “We’ll see what happens!” But there are definitely things I want to see happen!
One thing I’ve been emphasizing since I finished a six year longfic, Seeking Resonance, is that I DO NOT WANT MORE ENDLESS LONGFICS. I can still write long stories! But now, I write them in complete phases, so I can leave audiences on a nice stopping point while I work on more, and so I always know exactly what I’m writing towards.
This has worked so nicely in Tri: Integrity Lens. I wrote the entire Saikai content before posting anything, except for an emergency chapter that I added (which, go figure, was probably the best-received installment). But because I wrote the whole movie before posting, I was able to catch inconsistencies, move up certain plot points, and spot last-minute things I could add. Having it all in front of me before posting was such a game changer!
I want to continue doing that with everything! But I’d also love to do some descriptive work, since TIL is more... action/plot. I do miss slow, ruminating stories like Seeking Resonance... I am still working on that perfect balance of characterization to plot and movement. Will I ever find you?!
As far as my actual projects, here are my current goals:
Tri: Integrity Lens
I have a lot of Ketsui covered, but it’s not complete, and what exists needs lots of help. I keep realizing important things I can add at this stage, too- which, again, is the benefit of holding back before posting anything.
I’m so excited about my Ketsui content! Most of Saikai is groundwork, especially in my fic, where I pushed up a lot of the investigations/questions to the place that felt more natural to me, personally. That means that, with those issues addressed and in place, I can start rolling along soon! And I’m excited about the things I added! It’s gonna be Mimi central.
After I complete Ketsui, I will post a chapter every other week.
Four Years
I have plenty of FY content after Nanowrimo 2020! I admit that I feel a little... Unsure? I think that, while I needed this story when I was a freshgrad in 2012, I’m... Well, that was 8 years ago. Still... I owe it to myself, and to the readers, to try to finish it. You only learn from completing narratives. I just hope I can deliver on... whatever it was that made readers come back and tell me they want more three years later??? I’m so floored by that, thank you!
So what I want to do is complete what I have, and then post it every other week until I reach the “end” of Four Years, by which I mean the end of sophomore year and closing the remaining major plot points. After that, the story will continue, but in an episodic fashion that will alternate focus on the various kids in short stories. I’m also adding Davis, Ken, and Yolei, plus more Kari and TK! Cody’s too young for college, sorry Cody. Maybe I should just... age him up??? Maybe he skipped a year or two?!
Infinite Possibilities
Probably the thing I’ve been most excited to work on in a long, long time. It will still be a while, though. Basically, while one of the two above projects is running in a “post every other week” schedule, I will work on the remaining above project. While I post that second project, I’ll be working on Infinite Possibilities.
For now, I’m at the planning stage. I’ve planned the first phase well, and I’m starting to really dig into the second phase. The third... I have the basic ideas, but not the nuts and bolts. Ideally, I’ll have the planning all done by the time I have an opening to start drafting phase one of IP.
Sea of Bottles
I want to write some light, quick stories! I really don’t know when I’ll sneak these in, or if I even will, but it’s on my radar. Here is the current story lineup. I am wondering, though- should I just post the individual stories separately? Hmm...
And I don’t dare to try to plan further beyond that! This isn’t really a plan, tho, so much as... Hopes/what’s on my radar.
