The next '2022 song I love' is #CorneliaJakob's 'Hold me Closer.'

I love music which doesn’t finish in the same place it starts. This is a song about love, but it’s not a simple song about love. It’s modern and messy, honest, raw, and not at all sugar-coated. If your mantra is “who does it hurt, that’s who the story is about”, then the hurt and the story is all on Jakobs.

And she carries it off to perfection.

The 'Silver Medal' song in my 'new music from 2022' list is ‘Ciao Ciao‘, by La Rappresentante Di Lista.

What’s impressive is how operatic ‘Ciao Ciao‘ feels. You have an overture, you have the playful arias of the verses, the swell of the brass and backing bands in the ‘wall of sound’ styled chorus, and the almost recitative bridge… and I’m a sucker for lyrics in Italian.

Today's new music from this year, #2022x12, is Italy's #GianniMorandi and a triumphant return to #Sanremo.

He took to the stage with all the power of a boy band and all the presence of a legend at the top of their game. 'Apri Tutte Le Porte', it's bright and vivacious, full of energy and life. It never fails to put a smile on my face. Plus it's insanely catchy!

Past the half-way mark of my top 12 new tracks of 2022 in #2022x12.

Today is Belfast's finest 'post-punk jazz' troupe Robocobra Quartet.s track. 'Heaven'. From their third album, the band once more focus on spoken word wrapped around improvisational jazz. There's a subtly to the structure, and basically more of what I love about the Quartet.

Today's pick of #2022's new #song releases is a joyous and playful cover of some 1970s #jazz, with dollops of #psychedelia and #funk thrown into the mix.

It's the #MattBerry / #EmmaNoble collaboration that is '#Beatmaker' - which many will spot as the theme tune to '#ToastOfTinseltown' from January this year.

No second in its eight minutes is wasted as Caraffa and Macchi find the beauty inherent in the notion of time as a primal and symmetrical force; and then complement this by asking theoretical physicist Carlo Rovelli to supply a spoken-word guest appearance.
