So far I've watched 20 matches of my 55 years of wrestling project (in total it's 149 matches, because for 16 years I could not find a suitably highly rated match for Mexico; another 19 of those I have already previously seen and might rewatch). Out of these 20 matches I rated the highest:
Akira Taue, Jumbo Tsuruta & Masanobu Fuchi vs. Kenta Kobashi, Mitsuharu Misawa & Toshiaki Kawada « Matches « CAGEMATCH - The Internet Wrestling Database
Kota Ibushi vs. Shinsuke Nakamura « Matches « CAGEMATCH - The Internet Wrestling Database
Kenta Kobashi vs. Mitsuharu Misawa « Matches « CAGEMATCH - The Internet Wrestling Database
Cody vs. Dustin Rhodes « Matches « CAGEMATCH - The Internet Wrestling Database
Razor Ramon vs. Shawn Michaels « Matches « CAGEMATCH - The Internet Wrestling Database
Long story short, consider this a recommendation.
Watched Kota Ibushi vs. Shinsuke Nakamura at Wrestle Kingdom 9. 10/10 on the horniness. Highly recommended if you want to beat your meat.
Turns out that a lot of highly rated WWE matches are just... okay.
I'm watching some incredibly highly rated lucha matches here and they leave me 😐 for the most part. Trying to broaden my mind here but maybe this really just isn't for me.
It's so nice to watch a match that's good and the two wrestlers are down on the ground selling and instead of people chanting "this is awesome" they chant names and there's murmurs and cheering and as the face slowly gets up the noise of the crowd starts roaring too.
Between all the best out of three and iron man matches of the 1970s and the AJPW matches of the 1990s that must at least go 40 minutes and the equally long and longer NJPW matches of the 2010s my project is really testing me.
