It's really just a few things here and there and a lot of painting on our part. Friday. Oh and here are some Elliott pictures of course.
Almost there.
The plan is to move all of our possessions in on Friday and move our persons in on Monday. In one week (nearly two years after we started looking at houses) we are going to close this chapter of our journey. John has done most of the painting and the floors and trim are all in. The bathroom tile is finished and our cabinets are nearly done being installed (custom done by Jesse Parsons http://brasstackswoodworking.com). We just need some light fixtures and a few last finishing touches and we will be ready!! So here are some pictures!!
Stairs going up to the third floor now painted.
Third floor bed area.
Floors going in on the first floor! We went with maple hardwood. We loved the natural look also it fit the budget.
Third floor bedroom.
Third floor bedroom again with tub and sink stuffs.
Third floor looking toward the stairs.
John crafted this out of an old ikea piece and some reclaimed wood. There will be a sink going on here for our third floor next to the tub.
Third floor tub.
Our kitchen appliances arrived!! We decided on the ikea Nutid series which is actually being discontinued so we were able to get our fridge and our oven on super sale!
Here is the back of the fridge.
Cabinets preinstallment.
First floor, the larger cabinet piece is built to house the oven and microwave.
Partially installed kitchen!!
At last of course... This beautiful bathroom. This is the tile pre grout.
Post grout... The large white tiled area is the shower/tub section and the toiled and giant concrete sink are going along the wall under the brick that will eventually we painted white.
Concrete sink indoors!!
Up close tile in the shower.
Enormous shower!!!!!
Of course... gratuitous baby pictures.
Sorry we have been a little distracted...
We have been spending a lot of time hanging out with this little dude
Elliott Casper Yves arrived on December 15th at 9:55am weighing in at 7lbs and 13 oz. He has been so wonderful to have around and most likely be the reason this blog will continue to have the word 'disaster' in the name. Here is a few more baby pictures for those of you that like that sort of thing. If your not scroll quickly housing pictures are further down.
Right now back to house stuff. We were actually there moving a few things into the basement the day I went into labor. I kept walking up and down the stairs hoping it would be inspirational for my uterus. A lot has happened in the house since then!! The drywall and trim are up, the broken windows were replaced, John picked out tile for the bathroom and hardwood floors for the rest of the house, Jesse Parsons is nearly done with our kitchen cabinets, we ordered and received all the light fixtures, and we get to paint this week and weekend!! Floors, cabinets, and tile should all be happening next week.
First floor looking into the kitchen.
Front of the house first floor.
This kid doesn't care about the house at all.
Our enormous door in the kitchen.

And a picture of one of the third floor closets with drywalling around the beams.
I will post some more pictures after painting and floors are in!! We will be in soon!!
The Team
None of this would be possible without this amazing team of people. There were so many people (links are included) at work to help us find and buy this house.
The buying process:
Realtor: We dragged Neil Spak through more disgusting houses than I care to remember. We encountered giant spiders, dead birds, and some awful smells. He didn't complain once. Thanks Neil!!
Boulevard Mortgage Company: Pat and Joe kept track of so much paper work and put up with a year and half of questions and phone calls. They were unbelievably patient were so encouraging about this project. They are really invested in the community and genuinely excited to be a part of our adventure.
The Rehab Process:
Paul Janaitis: He is both a general contractor and 203k consultant. As soon as we told people that we would be using a contractor to rehab our house we would hear a horror story. Everyone had a contractor horror story. I am so happy to report that our experience has been the complete opposite. Paul has been incredibly communicative (we talk probably every day) and all of his knowledge about the incredibly complex 203k loan has kept us moving right over all the bumps we have hit. I can't say enough about his timely and efficient work ethic. Did I mention he does amazing work and is super enthusiastic about this project? Seriously, I think we won the lottery.
Jeremy Avellino: Not only did Jeremy find this house for us but is also our amazing architect. He consulted with us on several houses previous to this one and helped us learn the feasibility of projects. He is designing our kitchen and bathroom. Did I mention he is LEED certified and making sure our house is energy efficient too?
Chris Early: Chris did our home inspection and 203k inspection. He has done an amazing job answering all of our questions and been so patient with all the changes and revisions we made.
