20 years ago today @nasnyc unleashed his landmark debut full-length LP Illmatic - the groundbreaking album that would change the face of hip-hop (especially East Coast) for some time to come. Producers including Pete Rock, DJ Premier, Large Professor, Q-Tip, and L.E.S. And, with the exception of a single guest emcee (AZ on the track "Life's A Bitch"), Nas handled all of the mic duties himself at the age of 19, which still boggles my mind today.
