Charles hating every second of this bureaucratic hell chairing a giant assembly full of people who hate him and shitty teenagers he's committed to is just incredibly funny, honestly.
Anyway something I do appreciate about Wildbow's writing is that I'm legitimately anxious and worried about whether one of the protagonist's just legitimately actually died because some nameless goon shot her with a normal unmagical gun.
We're ust weighing the odds of "Avery dies" (makes a lot of people angry for bury your gays reasons, especially after Ward) vs the odds of "Avery uses Mother Mari's free healthcare to survive but is changed as a result in a way that will make her relationship with an Innocent Nora nigh impossible" (heart wrenching, will possibly make Verona jealous)
We know which side we come down on
So that's probably still not going to happen imo (my bet is on some trickery with Snowdrop and glamor), but it IS much more plausible, and still terrifying!
