That’s a wrap on the #21daysofcalm. It’s been four straight weeks of #meditationpractice for me and I’m feeling pretty good with it. I’m feeling much more #calm in my everyday activities and with my dealings with people. 📆 The key is to make this a #dailypractice. It doesn’t help you at all if you don’t do it every day or at least on some regular schedule. Doing it in spurts of interest won’t help you nearly as much as doing it every day regularly. I know so many people who say they “tried” #meditation but “it didn’t work” for them. Most of them have it a week at tops. That’s not gonna cut it. 🕰 The discipline of a daily practice and small, sometimes barely noticeable changes is possibly the key to our fast-paced instant gratification society. Instead of wanting everything all at once, we become patient and laugh off the unhappiness people bring themselves by wanting everything now. 🧘🏼♂️ #meditatedaily #livefully #meditatorsofinstagram #discipline #daily #meditation #mindfulness #mindful #stressrelief #anxietyrelief https://www.instagram.com/mudlifecrisis/p/BwUCA0iA9sG/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1qn22qwqk01i2
Almost there - just finished Day 20 of the #21daysofcalm. Today we did a #bodyscan to find out areas in the body where we’re holding tension. I still have a little left in my calves after that 5K on Saturday but it wasn’t really bothering me while sitting cross-legged. 🕰 We also talked about the challenges of setting up a #meditation #dailypractice. My biggest challenge with it is finding a place to be alone in it and not be interrupted. Small, house, big family, and a son who frequently demands more attention than many. You never know if he’s going to sleep in till 10:00 (on days that’s possible) or be up at 5:00 AM with you. Today he was up early but wasn’t in a talkative mood. So there was no issue. But he’s so impulsive that sometimes he needs to be told several times to wait a few minutes to talk to me. It is what it is. 🤔 I’d love to start a discussion here: do you meditate regularly? What’s your practice? When do you do it? Guided or free-form? Do have have a space to do it? Let’s talk! 🧘🏼♂️ #meditatorsofinstagram #meditationspace #meditationpractice #livefully #meditatedaily #emotionalintelligence #mindfulness #mindful https://www.instagram.com/mudlifecrisis/p/BwRZqD7A41d/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1tqs5tbxkg8x
This morning was Day 19 of the #21daysofcalm, and today’s #meditation was about “Loving Kindness.” 💜 How often do we treat other people better than we treat ourselves? If we sat back and listened to our #selftalk as if we were someone else, would we be okay with what was being said? Most of us are much harder on ourselves than on other people, don’t you think? Part of learning to be happy in the world is to treat ourselves with the kindness we treat other people with. 🧠 The session was spent in accepting the thoughts that came into our heads and not judging our progress with meditation and keeping the mind clear. The progress isn’t just in successfully avoiding stray thoughts, but in acceptance and forgiveness. That’s the real power of this practice. 🧘🏼♂️ #meditatorsofinstagram #forgiveness #selfcare #acceptance #dailypractice #meditate #meditatedaily https://www.instagram.com/mudlifecrisis/p/BwPum1lAxHZ/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1xe8y4qloox1z
I just finished Day 17 of the #21daysofcalm. Allowing was the theme of today’s meditation. 🌟 It was a little tough today, as I had a visitor: my son woke up early today and came down. He’s autistic, and for him that means he really doesn’t have much of an inner dialogue. Whatever he’s thinking, he’s generally saying out loud. Plus, he got in some trouble for eating someone else’s chocolate and his iPad was taken away. So while I was trying to get my meditation started he was trying to ask me repeatedly when he’d get it back. I told him, of course, but he’s fixated on it right now so he’s asking repeatedly. 😣 Finally he went back upstairs to go back to sleep. But I was left with the irritation in my head of having him disrupting my morning routine. So I launched into my meditation and fortunately the topic helped me to calm down. The practice of allowing our emotions, thoughts, and sensations to come and simply be helped me to get my irritation to go away. Allowing an emotion to be without shuttering it away lets it do its job and move on. It’s a tool I see myself using more and more. 🧘🏼♂️ #meditatedaily #meditatorsofinstagram #emotionalintelligence #livefully #autism #dailypractice #patience #allowing https://www.instagram.com/mudlifecrisis/p/BwJqvCcHiFE/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=146tj45so91g1
It’s Day 16 of the #21daysofcalm and today’s #meditation was about a new strategy of dealing with emotions: Leaning in to them. 😊 This method of working with our #emotions is simple but can be daunting for many. As uncomfortable emotions come to you, instead of pushing them away, identify them and explore them. It sort of goes into the idea that anything you can identify has no power over you. 📖 But I’m taking it back to #TheArtOfFear by @kristen.ulmer again. It seems more of an idea that letting our emotions have their say in our lives and appreciating them will let them not conquer us. Instead, we let them be the part of us that they are, to do their jobs, and then move on. They don’t fester under the surface this way, haunting us, but instead are allowed to be out in the open where they can do us good. 🧘🏼♂️ #meditatorsofinstagram #dailypractice #emotionalintelligence #livefully #meditate #meditatedaily https://www.instagram.com/mudlifecrisis/p/BwHHm4xn28A/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1jpz6tsw8zow8
