I miss sipping ginger ale with olives and dancing to good music at 222 Hyde. Most of all I'm glad to be a part of 222 Hyde It was the first real club I've ever played in. 3 Turntables, 2 CDJs, Traktor & Serato set ups with Allen & Heath rotary mixer and Turbo Sound. The turbo on the right side of the booth and the wall was my best friends hahaha..
Will heart this place forever. RIP 222.

Harvey Milk, 222 Hyde, Priorities. Wk 10
Smart - The proposal to rename San Francisco International Airport to Harvey Milk San Francisco International Airport, is a fine idea. I don't know why various online publications say that the majority of San Franciscans polled are against this - I certainly wasn't polled. The mere idea of this city honoring the remarkable person that was Harvey Milk, and using his name on an international hub (servicing citizens from countries that may not acknowledge gay rights, at all) is worth the nominal cost of changing the name. I also like the idea that the abbreviation could be HMO.
(sh)Art - I'm sad that my favorite open mic venue is closing this week. The San Francisco Comedy Cellar/222 Hyde is in its final week of openness. In a town that sorely lacks good open mic venues, I appreciated the feel of Hyde: low ceilings, dark room, spotlight, mic, stage, stool, and a bar area removed from the performance area - all good things for the grinding comedian. A thank you to Grant, Katie Dae, and EO for the delightful venue. Catch the final comedy show there this Friday!! Hey SF, please open another venue, equally as great!
Heart - Is anyone out there really good at juggling priorities? I don't know how to simultaneously tend to my self-care, career, and relationships. This week, I found my ship running aground in the shallow pool of my self-care. My lesson: the care of another person (no matter how great) will never be able to replace the care I can give myself (for me, it's solitude). If I value the people in my life, then I must care for myself. I must treat it as my job, in order to maintain my two most significant life-roles: career and relationship. The problem is, I only have my two very human and fragile shoulders upon which to support these roles...does anyone have weightlifting tips?
