Calling all my writer friends!
In July, I’m going to be hosting two 24-hour write-a-thons! And I want people to join me in my challenge.
What is a 24-hour write-a-thon?
Good question! Here’s how it works:
You get 24-hours on a set day to write as much as you can. Set yourself a goal (either word count or based on completion of work or both!) and try to meet that goal by the end of the day. It was an event started by me two years ago in 2017, and now revived again in 2019. This year there are two, to allow participants to choose a day that works for them (or to do both).
What can I write?
Anything you want. This can be original or fanfiction. You can write one story, you can write more. You do not have to create a new story for the write-a-thon — you can choose to finish WIP(s) or start from scratch. I encourage you to push yourself!
What day?
The first write-a-thon will coincide with the beginning of Camp NaNoWriMo on Monday, July 1, and the second will be on Saturday, July 20. Your challenge will begin at 12 AM in your time-zone and end at 12 AM.
How do I participate?
All you have to do is write!
You are not, of course, obligated to post anything during the write-a-thon if you don’t want to.
However:
Before the write-a-thon, you can set and post your goals.
You can also post updates throughout the day of your progress using the hashtag #24 hour writeathon (click to see 2017′s write-a-thon), and I encourage you to also post about finishing the challenge/a wrap-up of your day. You can also tag me (#queenangst/@queenangst)!
*Please make sure they are in the first five tags, or I won’t be able to see it.
If you finish a story during the write-a-thon, you can post it in the same tag so other writers participating can see it!
