After having seen the short film, I want to give you my take about the film.

Feathers is best understood not as a story about creatures or romance but as a visual metaphor for the moment an overpowering force crushes your dignity so completely that something inside you mutates in self‑defense; the film externalizes that private rupture, giving shape to the instinct that rises within when you are belittled, cornered, or humiliated, the instinct that wants to tear down the very thing that is tearing you apart. Mary’s hunger, her feathers, her violence — none of these are clues to a species or a lore you’re meant to decode; they are the anatomy of an internal eruption, the monster you never wanted but that forms when pressure becomes unbearable. Seen this way, the film stops being confusing and becomes painfully familiar: a portrait of the self you might become when the world refuses to let you remain gentle, and the horror is not the creature on screen but the recognition of the moment you felt that same monster stirring inside you.
