TBT: What an amazing experience I had as a selected designer to compete on this show on the Lifetime TV network(same producers as 'Project Runway'). It was an unforgettable time as we filmed in the heart of Manhattan during New York Fashion Week with all the fashion buzz throughout the city complimenting my excitement of this opportunity. While I was not chosen as the final winner in my episode, however I will forever be grateful to be on this show and showcase my work nationwide. There were many cuts & edits that were not shown on the actual televised episode. My favorite, actually, was when I got eliminated. They first eliminated one designer before me. Then the host started off by saying, "the most difficult elimination to date (and agreed upon by all our judges) is you Joey." They said: "they were looking for a designer that can create garments a bit more mainstream for women across the nation. My designs were so specific and that it doesn't pertain to the average woman." Then each judge critiqued me positively saying go for it, I definitely have talent and I definitely have a market niche(pageant gowns) that I should work towards. One of the judges said, he's a pageant fan too and that he believes I'll definitely do great in this industry. I'm building this life long dream one-gown-at-a time. THROWBACK THURSDAY: w/Brian Duffy Buterbaugh in New York & in Miami. While in NY during New York Fashion Week, Brian had just wrapped up filming his episodes as a competing Hair Stylist for “Shear Genius” hosted by Jaclyn Smith on the Bravo TV Network and was sharing with me his reality tv experience while I was about to step onto set to film as a competing fashion designer on “24 Hour Catwalk” hosted by Alexa Chung on the Lifetime TV Network. In Miami, we got to hang on a super cold winter beach day in South Beach while I was there for the Miss Universe competition. Who knew it could be cold in South Beach. Brrr!
