24 Hour Writing Challenge [ 01 ]

hello and how are you, fellow Wanderers?

So, we have been told and wandered over and around the 24 Hour Novel Challenge and while it is so late - we are writing this the night before and posting it now, so don't judge - we are jumping on board! It sounds like such a fun challenge and we are loving the idea of it - confidence, enthusiasm, pure and wonderful spite - so we are going to come and fight and probably fail!

But by the Three, we will do it.

The Rules

50,000 Words | 24 Hours | 01 Novel

The Schedule

We will be attempting to do it across the 3 Days, so the plan is to dedicate SIX HOURS to SATURDAY; TEN HOURS to SUNDAY; EIGHT HOURS to MONDAY. Whether the 24 Hours or the 50k Words comes first will be determined when they are met!

We will be keeping track of everything for accountability here on Tumblr with the personal tag, #events ⊹ 24 Hour Novel!

The Project

We will be focusing on Grayland's Shadow for this Challenge. It will be the Second Draft of this Story, and we have done enough wandering and wondering to attempt this.

147 Years

When a child is stillborn at the same time as two lovers die, all three ghosts are trapped in the same infant body. As the undead body grows, so do the ghosts' problems, and they're forced to come to an agreement all while the body continues automatically hoovering up stray souls. In a story focused on themes of love, hatred, individualism, and sense of self, Chi Pin fights to find a place in a world not meant for them.

Characters

Chi Pin (they/them)

Chi Pin is the original owner of the body, a stillborn baby named Kalynn who is miraculously brought back to "life" by the addition of two ghosts—Qiro and Magella. They are the princess of an elven city called Thor Aru, and their parents never really understood their ghostly circumstances.

Qiro (he/him)

Qiro is the smart and logical one. He's the one who keeps everyone on track and prevents the party from getting distracted by side quests. He's a bit uptight, but this is mostly from the stress of losing his lover, Magnus, who he has not seen since his death 147 years ago.

Magella (she/her)

Magella is the strong one. She feels guilty about taking so much of Chi Pin's life, and she doesn't know how to break the news to Qiro that she is his old boyfriend—death simply granted her the transition she desired.

JJ (she/her)

JJ is the flirty one. She's probably also the most stable of the group, having the least amount of trauma despite dying of smoke inhalation in a tavern caught on fire.

Thelo (he/him)

Thelo was eight when he died, and would now be eleven if he still aged. He's an innocent little boy who loves animals, especially his pet frog. He takes control when the grown-ups are too stressed out.

Notes

These characters have existed for a couple of years now, since the day we first started playing this ttrpg campaign. The novel focuses on all 147 years of Chi Pin's backstory, and includes most of the campaign's events so far, that being all of their experiences with the party. I'm excited to get writing on this one!

what's better than writing 50k in a month? writing 50k in a day, of course! the 24 hour novel challenge is a blossoming new challenge in the Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube spheres, but i haven't seen anyone talking about it on Tumblr so i decided to bring it here. join us in this incredible act of hubris. no regrets.

hello and how are you, fellow Wanderers?

Well, this might be the last for us with this challenge. We just ended up having a whole weekend within the Realities, but hey! We wrote and we had fun and we got started on a draft and we ended up writing! Which is the best thing about this challenge; it got us to write once again! So we are thankful for that! :D

Anyways, we are not getting close to the challenge, but we had fun and while this is the last update, it was a good one! Thanks for having us and hopefully we can do this challenge once again!

24 Hour Writing Challenge [ 05 ]

hello and how are you, fellow Wanderers?

Well, today is a day, guys, and honestly, we might be able to safe assume that we are probably not going to hit the 24 hours for this challenge. It was just filled to the brim with random things and Realities and the unfortunate fate of having a body and mind that does not like to agree with you. But hey! We are having fun and we will continue on and we will keep doing these updates, even if they are more or less redundant sometimes!

We do have progress for all of you though! And hey, we are writing, which is the best feeling, even if this is ending up just as wild as the first Draft. I guess that is what happens when you drag out a Draft that you haven't touched in YEARS.

Oh well. We're having fun.

hello and how are you, fellow Wanderers?

Nothing like anxiety and people to ensure that we get little to nothing done even when we want to. Wow, is today turning into another bad end for us when it comes to writing. We are sitting and realizing that we might not even be able to sit around and type for 24 Hours, no matter how much we may want to.

But it is fine, this is just a misadventure that we are having fun with! Hopefully we will be able to get more writing done at some point today, but for now, we are checking in.

24 Hour Writing Challenge [ 03 ]

hello and how are you, fellow Wanderers?

It's a new day and we are sitting at a good start to this day. We have not wrote anything else, but today is going to be a writing day if we can help it, so we are here to keep ourselves accountable and all of that. The stats haven't changed or anything - save that we are actually at only one full hour, not two - but hopefully it will as we get through the day!

Good Luck to everyone else! We've got this, maybe!
