Even I wouldn't spot the difference now...
Monomyth
Don't be a hero, they say. As if we do not fantasise about power and agency and forget responsibility. As if we do not crave praise and recognition. As if we do not idolise sacrifice.
Why are most of our heroes dead? Why do people posthumously assign agendas to those beyond critique? Why do grave robbers sell bodies?
It is easy to put words in the mouths of the dead. We cut out the tongue of the lamb And treat its silence as consent to parade around its corpse.
Don't be a hero. Heroes transcend reality into myth. Myths are stories. Stories warp with each retelling and each narrator.
Use your tongue. Don't let them change your story. Don't be a hero. Be a person.

writing tip #2597:
don't worry if your own OCs have ruined dating for you, you'll eventually meet someone who lives up to the standards they have set. maybe
