My work explores the contrasts between the natural and the man made. For me my pieces represent life, and how although the manmade is considered to be the destruction of the natural, it is somehow still able to grow off these fake, manmade nutrients.

I am inspired by two different elements, the first being architecture/geometric shapes which influence the form, design, shape and colour of the concrete. The second, natural through rock structure, different layering and particularly marbled patter nation which is then produced through my use of ceramic. I believe by combing two completely opposed types of inspiration, it helps my pieces/design to be in paradox.

My choice of materials heavily signify each aspect of my work, for instance the concrete is used to signify the manmade, which for me is a key industrial material and one of the most common used in architecture. The ceramic symbolizes the organic, seen as quite delicate in its mud raw condition but then becoming similarly as powerful once fired.

For me my work is all about contrast, these two materials very different in quality and ability once combined successfully produce, not only visually pleasing pieces of sculpture but also portray a message, which for me as an artist and maker is as vitally important as the piece itself.
