do you ever feel like your life is just made up

of plans that never take place

and promises that crumble and break?

those two am giddy ideas

thrown back and forth

across frantically typing fingers

delirious on hopes and could bes.

those fervent promises

repeated earnestly on slow

hazy walks home in the warmth of a sunset

a group of friends swearing to travel together

spilling vague ambitions from tired, relaxed mouths

and encouraged on by the comforting solidarity of trailing home in the late dusk.

and even those made to yourself, right?

those lists scribbled down in the backs

of multiple notebooks in your favourite pen.

the mile long array

of things that you fiercely commit to doing sometime soon.

and then it happens, like many things.

paragraphs of pointless conversation

dribble to mere dregs

of occasional texts

asking how the other person is doing.

friendships, like pretty much always

slowly crumble to nothing

just humans connected by thin strings

held up by memories

of lazy nights where sincere promises came to life.

and yourself?

you move on

step out of each version of yourself

and leave every dusty ghost

on the floor,

crumpled bucket lists still hiding in the pockets

of its clothes.

and maybe that’s just how humans work

fickle and dreamy

changing a million times per minute.

but wouldn’t it be nice

to at least try,

to keep every promise that you ever made?

1. The boy and I spent a fair few hours at my neighbours house, had a lovely time catching up and hanging out. We saw her partner too which was good, my boy was loving it. 2. Had a fairly chilled out day. 3. My partner made calzone for dinner. He manged to make it taste even better. Best ever calzone to date!
