20. Commit a Random Act of Kindness everyday

I don’t know if I hit one every day, but I tried REALLY hard. And then, it just wasn't so hard anymore. Kindness is second nature in humans, if we let our jaded and hardened perspectives go out the door.  

Little things, like leaving my change for the next person after using the vending machine / letting people out in front of me / being kind instead of being ‘right’

and big things like participating in Random Acts of Kindness Annual Melee of Kindness - better known as AMOK.

For AMOK, Connor and I made tags with nice quotes wrote on them for all the staff at his school, as well as little drawings a sweet notes he made. AMOK fell on a day that our district had Saturday School to make up for all the snow days they missed, so doing something for the teachers and school staff was a no brainier. We also hung ‘Take what you need’ flyers around town.

Lets talk about my failures - part two

I had 4 “health” related items on my list. These are things I thought if I put them on my list, I would be more inclined to do them.  

7. Start running

11. Do a 5k

For some reason, every couple years I think running is this great idea. That its easy and free and I should do it. So I start doing it, and then after the second or third day I am icing my hip at night and can’t walk. I always seem to forget I have inherited the dreaded left hip of my father, and his father before him (and his siblings, and everyone else on his side of the family.) So running is out. That gets rid of #s 7 & 11.

24. Attend at least 5 yoga classes

HAHAHAAHAHAAHA who the EFF was I kidding? In all my spare time I’m going to GO to a yoga class? Not happening, ever. Time to get over it.

3. quit smoking 

No excuses. I suck.

So, in light of not hitting any of my ‘be healthy’ goals I am creating ONE Giant new goal for 28. And it is ONLY to be healthier -- in whatever form it manifests itself. I am planing on getting a bicycle soon, as we have tons of awesome paths that I could ride on. I ADORE biking, and it is low impact for my stupid hip. So that is something...

Lets talk about my failures - part one

Okay, so not really “failures” ...but lets talk about items that AREN'T happening in the next 8 days. 

6. Read all The Lord Of The Rings books - I did read The Hobbit, and really enjoyed it. The problem is TIME. At some point in my life, I will have time to sit down with the longest books ever (or so they seem) and bury myself in them. I found out the hard way that this IS NOT that time.  

9. Harvest a deer - See previous post about this one 

10. Take a trip sans kids - Good intentions right? The thing is, life changes quick. Things that happened since I made the list a year ago have made it almost impossible for us to feel comfortable leaving our kids overnight. And that is okay. 

17. Family trip to COSI - Again...this one will happen eventually, probably this summer. Winter was hell here, and with everything going on we never made it. 

26. Go to a drive in movie - Summer got away from me last year, and it never happened. Going to try like hell to go this summer. Probably for the best, now Collin is a little older he really likes going to the movies.

Marvel movie marathon starts now

because apparently it is never going to stop snowing. 

The only ones I've seen are Iron Man, the Incredible Hulk, and Thor. 

So ready to be in the loop.

# 2.Visit Vegas & #27 Find the perfect red lipstick

It was so much fun, and the weather was BEAUTIFUL! I did end up getting really sick the third night - I'm fairly certain I'm the only person in the world who stayed up all night vomiting in Vegas because of a bug or food poisoning and not from drinking too much. 

My favorite part of Vegas was the Fremont Street Experience. It was such a cool environment, so much music and entertainment happening all around. Seeing Britney Spears in  her Piece of Me show was the best thing we did. If you are going to Vegas and considering it - do it. Get floor seats, if you can. It was AMAZING. She worked that stage hard, all night. My inner 13 year old self was dead. 

Also - I happened to grab a red lip crayon out of a bin when I was in line at Forever 21. I think the name of if is just "Red".  Let me tell you - FINALLY. I FINALLY FOUND IT. IT IS PERFECT. Now, it wears off fast, and is a pain to keep re applying but the color was intense and perfect and not too pink or orange. You can sort of see it in the pink toned selfie from Fremont street, but the light show has us all washed out. I'll be wearing it again soon, and will post a new photo once I do.
