I should like to help everyone, if possible, Jew, gentile, black man, white. We all want to help one another. Human beings are like that. We want to live by each other’s happiness — not by each other’s misery. We don’t want to hate and despise one another. In this world there is room for everyone. And the good earth is rich and can provide for everyone. The way of life can be free and beautiful, but we have lost the way. Greed has poisoned men’s souls, has barricaded the world with hate, has goose-stepped us into misery and bloodshed. We have developed speed, but we have shut ourselves in.

i was at work last night and while there were no customers this guy stumbles in with a beer in his hand and he just leans against the wall in the corner and chugs the entire thing. and then he sees me staring and just drops his head and walks over to me and says "im sorry. im so so sorry. im really a good person. i dont even like drinking or getting high. i dont know why im doing this. i dont know why i came in here. i guess im was just looking for attention. im sorry." and as he turned to leave i said "its okay man" and he stopped and came back to the counter and said "it is?" so i proceeded to tell him that hes just in a bad place right now and that things will get better and that im sure hes a great guy. the guy just covers his face and i could swear he was crying. then he looks back up at me and says "wow thank you. thank you so much for that. i promise ill get better." and as he backs out through the door he says to me "thanks again. we're friends now okay? take care. i love you. and i hope i remember you when im sober."
