294 Records returns with a new single from Sonic Future. The Brazilian duo is comprised of Cesar Funck and VJ Leo, who have over twenty combined years involved in the music and video industry. Their music range today covers tech, funky, and disco house, sometimes transitioning into the atmospheric and deep. How long have you been producing and working with music?

Technically, you can say I've been producing house music for just over 6 years, but I've been in music for sometime as a hobby for over 16.  

What is your favorite spot in Toronto?

My favorite spot to play in Toronto is Bassline Music Bar.  Mainly because of the intimacy, people, and sound there.  Craig Kovacs, the owner, has a great understanding of what underground house music is and keeps things lined up to the music and culture.  I currently have a residency there with my homie Dick Diamonds on the 4th Saturday of every month for the last year and a half...We've had some great parties there and I always test out new tracks to see the response.

Dub Meets Jack is officially out, what djs can expect from this ep?

So excited this EP is out! Djs can expect to hear the raw Jamaican patois vocals / slang served up on funky Jackin beats. The presence of soulful bass and jazzy Fender Rhodes  loops with live bass are essential with the samples used.  A serious groove!  

In particular, there is a dark change in "Bully Beef (So Sweet)" that forces a dark and grimy feel that you just can't deny.

How did you first got in touch with the brazilian music and how it influenced you?

Artistically, I think there are certain things in music that just choose you.  I have no way to tell you why I feel such a connection to Brazilian music.  If I had to guess, I can say my vinyl collection has pushed the sound on to me and then I went on to learn how to play certain instruments like bass, quica, congas, bongos, guiro, etc.  and perhaps it's the Weat African influence ou can hear throughout the tunes.  Great artists like Azymuth, Joyce, and Marcos Valle are amazing with their work... They have inspired me to do a Samba album that I am still working through.  I can't wait to share it!

Can you tell us more about the Samba album?

I'm sampling mainly 70s samba and adding other live elements and will like to be out in January 2015

Any plans for 2015?

2015 is shaping up to be busy.  I have a house album coming along with a follow-up EP on Mark Farina's GLA label.  There are a number of other things in the works with artists I respect and whom have graciously reached out to me and expressed interest to work together.
