Sam’s standing by the window. 

His fingers play with the curtains while he waits.

“Is he...is he coming back?” his voice is small.

“Course he is! He just went out for a drink.” Dean tries to play it cool.

“It’s almost 3, Dean. The bars are closed.” Sam doesn’t look at him.

“Dad’ll find a way.” Dean knows if his dad wants alcohol, he’ll get it.

“He heard us” Sam’s voice is almost nothing but a squeak.

“Maybe.” Dean rolls over and looks at the ceiling.

“He did, Dean. I know he did.” Sam pauses, then speaks again, this time his voice is much higher. Almost a cry. “Dean, his bag is gone, too.”

“What? Dean jumps up in surprise. 

“Dad’s bag. It’s gone.”
